New Melbourne Jazz Band
A six piece Dixieland Jazz Band based in Melbourne, Victoria.
Their extensive repertoire enables the band to present an extremely wide and varied range of programs, including:-
- Traditional New Orleans
- Tribute to Louis Armstrong
- Swing era selections
- Roaring Twenties
- Fats Waller
- Benny Goodman
- etc...
These programs can also be modified, either in terms of time or variations in size of the group, to suit any occasions.
Career Highlights In 1984 The New Melbourne Jazz Band were made Official Jazz Ambassadors for the City of Melbourne and Melbourne Tourism Authority, by the Rt Hon The Lord Mayor Kevin Chamberlin.
Playing as support group for visiting international jazz bands including Acker Bilk, The Dutch Swing College Band and Kenny Ball.
Several TV performances including Good Morning Australia [Channel 10] and In Melbourne Tonight [Channel 9]. Regular headline performances at Montsalvat Jazz Festival. Feature band at: Moe Jazz Festival, Marvellous Melbourne Jazz Festival, Perth Jazz Festival WA, Newcastle Jazz Festival.
International festivals have included - The Sacramento Jazz Festival which led to invitations to more festivals in the US and Canada including Eureka, Redding Medford Sun Valley, Pismo Beach,Phoenix, Sunnyvale, Modesto, Cathedral City, Victoria in British Columbia .
