Switching between characters at lightning speed, big-voiced comedienne Queenie van de Zandt also sings as the music therapist's unfortunate students in a performance that hits the high notes of comedy.

Jan van de Stool - the Dutch despot of the evening class, is the outrageous and hilarious creation of writer-performer Queenie van de Zandt and Tony Taylor.  Accompanying Jan is her trusty pianist and tea-lady Helen.

Queenie was recently seen in Channel 7's comedy, "Let Loose Live", and is a Helpmann Award nominee and currently nominated for a Green Room Award for her role as Vicki Nichols in last years critically acclaimed "The Full Monty".

Like Jan, Queenie also hails from Holland, and its a little known fact that as a teenager,  she had one of her first forays into performing as part of a Dutch Marching Girl Troupe!

BIO:

Canberra born actor/singer/writer Queenie van de Zandt began her professional career performing in the group-devised show The Essential Lloyd Webber at the legendary cabaret venue, The School of Arts Café in Queanbeyan. 

After graduating Year 12 in the top 2% of the A.C.T., Queenie horrified her friends and teachers by not going to University, instead deciding to become an actor.

• In 2004 Queenie relocated to Melbourne and starred to critical acclaim alongside Michael Veitch as Vicki Nichols in The Full Monty - the Musical (she is currently nominated for a 2005 Green Room Award for this performance) and played Anastasia McIntyre in Eureka at Her Majesty's Theatre.

Queenie van de Zandt is also a songwriter and writer. In 1994 Glen St Theatre in Sydney produced Jingle Belrose (later re-titled Up The Shops), which she co-wrote with Tony Taylor, Craig Ilott and Jonothan Mayer, and in 2001 the show was again produced by ATYP in Sydney. 

In 1996 she recorded and released her first solo album, Amazon Woman, which she co-wrote with Andrew Worboys. 

In 1999 she performed her original material at the National Folk Festival.  Her subsequent one-woman show Amazon Woman and Other Stories has been performed at Kabarett Junction, Sydney, The Brisbane Cabaret Festival, The Basement, Sydney, Chapel off Chapel, and The Butterfly Club in Melbourne and at Theatre 3, Canberra.  She is set to release her second album, Other Stories, later this year.

2005 has seen Queenie shift into comedy, performing in the Brisbane and Sydney seasons of the 2005 Helpmann Award nominated Women In Voice 14 and The Brisbane Cabaret Festival, playing her self-devised character, Jan van de Stool, to great success with audiences and critics alike. 

Most recently she was a leading cast member, performing and writing alongside comedy legends, Marg Downey, Michael Veitch, Peter Moon, Dave O'Neil and Colin Lane on the Channel 7 Sketch Comedy Show -Let Loose Live.

She is currently set to perform Amazon Woman and Other Stories.

And is touring her one-woman show based around her character Jan van de Stool-I Get The Music in You, which she co-wrote with Tony Taylor and in her spare time is co-writing a mockumentary with Tony and comediennes Geoff Paine and Julia Zimero.
