Daddy Cool - Ross Wilson
DADDY COOL-THE NEW COOL!
Daddy's back and it's been worth the wait! 34 years in the making. Daddy Cool's thirds studio album is an absolute masterwork and sounds like they've never been away.
2006 ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Daddy Cool were the only original line up band inducted this year and on this album prove beyond doubt that the original is the best.
The unmistakable soundscape that differentiated Daddy Cool from the rest of the rock and roll world in the early 70's continues unabated and is evident from the very first bar. As Ross sings in the album opener, the aptly-titled Daddy's Back: "The hipsters understand "
Indelibly etched into the Australian psyche are Ross Wilson'S eternally youthful vocals and trademark lyrics and Ross Hannaford's exquisite, economical guitar playing and soul deep baritone.
Combined with what is widely regarded as this continent'S greatest ever jump boogie rhythm section - Wayne Duncan on mighty bass groove and Gary Young's devil-may-care drumming and you've got it made, Daddy. Made in the Shade...
Since forming in 2005 for the Melbourne Tsunami Benefit Concert at the Myer Music Bowl the band has played a few very select gigs including the launch for Aztec Films DVD "The Complete Daddy Cool" and two major festival dates this year, The Deniliquin Ute Muster and Great Southern Blues & Rockabilly Festival in Narooma. Although the bands will not be touring, they are sure to do the occasional gig for a good cause and you may find them popping up at major music festivals in the next year or so.
