The Grand Wazoo
Grand Wazoo - Australia's Legendary Kings of Soul is a unique 14 piece outfit, which passionately pays homage to the great Afro-American Soul and Rhythm & Blues Legends of the 60s, 70s and their music, along with the iconic bands of the period, such as Tower of Power & Blood Sweat & Tears, with an occasional band original thrown in to the mix.
Australia's Ambassador of Soul, John Montesante, a renowned Jazz Musician and Arranger, founded Grand Wazoo in 1981 and the outfit has performed continuously since, proving that quality endures.
Montesante's talent as a world-respected Arranger has been a key factor in Grand Wazoo’s musical excellence and longevity. All 300+ tunes performed by the band have been especially orchestrated by him—taking it outside any 'cover' category.
GRAND WAZOO plays Montesante's vibrant orchestrations of the great R & B and Soul classics, and the band is acknowledged as a 'Soul Institution'. GRAND WAZOO has backed and supported many International and local artists, and fostered talents that have become 'names' within the Australian Industry.
