Reflejos
Reflejos is an original band creating vibrant and unique music drawn from Latin American Traditions. The music is performed by the lead singer Bonnie Smith in Spanish, French and English. The band consists of classical nylon stringed guitars, flute, charango (small Andian guitar from South America), double bass, percussion (congas, bongos, cajon, darbuka), mandolins and beautiful vocals.
The vocal arrangements are also a captivating element to the sound of this group. The music can get your toes tapping and dancing romantically on the dance floor, or it can leave you soaking up the haunting melodies and leave you wanting more.
The music is inspired by Mexican, Cuban, Colombian, Argentinean and Chilean traditions. However, the originality in the interpretation is engaging and fresh. The majority of the music is original compositions, by Bonnie the lead vocalist.
Reflejos first formed in Montreal, Canada where they have recorded and performed. The French aspect of the music has integrated itself into the music based on the many years living in Montreal, the French speaking part of Canada, rich in folklore and culture.
Reflejos has also toured and performed in many parts of Latin America, including Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina and the United States of America.
The current members of the band are: Bonnie Smith: lead vocals, rhythm guitar Luis Escudero: Percussion, vocals, Ryan Griffth: lead guitar, Elise Winterflood: double bass, Michael O'connor: Flute, vocals.
Reflejos has performed in many major festivals in Melbourne and Victoria, gradually inspiring the public with the cultural exploration and sophisticated music. They have undergone another recording project and have now recorded an album which will soon be released for many keen listeners.
This is an act not to miss, something to warm your heart and fill your ears with beautiful melodies that you will never forget.
