Ehrlund Microphones - the shape of things to come
Clear & Accurate
Ehrlund Microphones are changing the shape of the microphone industry with their patented triangular membrane. From Sweden, inventor Goran Ehrlund has produced a range of microphones that surpasses all other brands when it comes to transparency, accurate transient capability and frequency response. While other mics are known for their distinct color, Ehrlund is decidedly colorless in its natural reproduction of source material. This allows the engineer to add the desired effects later in the sound chain instead of being limited by the microphone. With it's unique and patented triangular shape, the membrane resolves impulse resonance more rapidly allowing for a less distorted signal.
Imagine peering into a pool of water at your reflection. Drop a pebble into the water and the reflection is distorted. Drop another pebble into the water before the ripples have subsided and the reflection is further distorted.
The triangular shape of the Ehrlund microphone membrane allows the membrane surface to stabilize 400% faster than conventional round membranes, thus producing a clearer and more true sonic image. In addition to the triangular membrane, Ehrlund microphones use a unique internal amplifier that is phase linear and thereby eliminates the need for "matched" microphone pairs. Internal self noise is extremely low ((5db) with a lab certified frequency response of 7- 87,000 hz.
Ehrlund's revolutionary membrane and pioneering amplifier design frees the creativity of sound engineers by providing the most transparent and natural sound reproduction in the industry. Whether you are recording vocals, drums, strings, or an orchestra; suddenly, you hear it all.
All Ehrlund microphones are designed and manufactured in Sweden now distributed worldwide

EHR-M is a phantom-powered cardioid condenser microphone for studio use, designed for music and song recording. Its patented triangular capsule design is combined with an extremely low noise amplifier designed to deliver the cleanest sound possible, enabling complex signals to be reproduced close to their original form. The sound is transparent, relaxed, and consistent from the deepest bass on through to its extended treble. Boasting a self-noise among the lowest on the market, the mic is highly sensitive and its signal so strong you only need an external pre-amp for the phantom power.
EHR-M1 is a miniature version of the EHR-M. The Mini M also has the broad and smooth pickup characteristics of its bigger brother, with deep bass and extended highs. It too, has extremely low self-noise and high sensitivity. Even though it's small, the sound is huge and perfect for choirs and orchestras. Positioned overhead on drums, this mic will still capture the bottom of floor toms and the kick drum. It's becoming a favorite among radio hosts as well.
EHR-E is a light studio-microphone, suitable for most instruments. It can handle very loud sounds and is -12 to -15 db less sensitive than the EHR-M. It' small format makes it extremely versatile for overhead, electric guitars, horns, toms, snare and vocals.
EHR-D is specially designed for percussion, but many engineers are using it for guitars and horns as well. It can handle way more SPL than the EHR-M, and its housing is made for a rough life on the road. To isolate drum-to-drum-leakage, it has more background dampening and is not as wide as the EHR-E. Toms and snares sound amazing with this little friend and standard tom mounts are great if you like to use stands off.
EHR-T is a double-sided version of the EHR-M microphone, one of the few double mics on the market. It has the same broad recording characteristics as the EHR-M, however because it has two audio inputs you can mix the signals and adjust the sound pickup patterns afterwards at the mixer table. Use it as a stereo mic, or to capture the room behind the direct signal or to control the cardioid effect. Total flexibility!
This has become a favorite in Concert Halls for Symphony Orchestras and bigger TV Shows to capture what the audience hear.
Ehrlund Acoustic Pickup (EAP) is a linear microphone for acoustic instruments such as guitar, violin, and double bass. Also based on the same know-how and triangular membrane design as other Ehrlund products.
A linear microphone means the pickup reproduces a flat frequency response. As the pickup captures the vibrations in the acoustic instrument, the microphone is able to deliver excellent separation even in normally "impossible" environments where the other musicians are generating high sound levels on their respective instruments. The pickup has achieved excellent results in test performances, even with incongruous combinations such as Heavy Metal and cello.
Ehrlund Preamp is optimized for use together with the Ehrlund Acoustic Pickup. It has extremely low self-noise and power consumption. It has the power to drive most accessories, such as foot pedals, effects pedals and Di-boxes with transformers.
It comes in two versions;
1. The battery powered version is powered by a 9-volt battery, with an extended operating life of 600 hours. It disconnects itself when the output cable is unplugged.
2. The phantom-powered version is powered by 48 V from mixer or amplifier. This gives even better signal-to-noise-ratio and higher output signal compared to the battery powered model.
