Jimmy Webb New Album ‘Twilight of the Renegades’

Filed under: General — site admin @ 9:35 pm

Released 23rd May 2005

Jimmy Webb is an artist who transcends all categories and eras; he has influenced and affected some of the greatest musical talents of our age. A singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer and writer, he is the only artist ever to receive Grammy awards for music, lyrics and orchestration. His classic song ‘Wichita Lineman’ has been listed in the top fifty of MOJO’s best 100 singles of all time, and ‘By The Time I Get To Phoenix’ is the third most performed song of the last fifty years.

Celebrated songs like ‘Macarthur Park’ opened Webb’s phenomenal writing career, and he gained five top ten hits in a 20-month period during the 60’s. He has continued throughout the following years to write for outstanding artists like, REM, Tony Bennet, Johnny Cash and many many more. The 70’s saw Webb launch his own performing career, one that has received immense critical acclaim over several albums. Webb has also used his extraordinary musical talent in film and recently on Broadway scoring for high profile theatre shows.

‘Twilight of the Renegades’ is Webb’s first solo album since 1996’s much loved ‘Ten Easy Pieces’, and features brand new songs in amongst classic live favourites that have never been recorded before. A singer and writer who brings a truly magical quality to his music, Webb has created a sublimely gorgeous and emotional album for 2005.

“He has been blessed with the emotions and artistic talent of the great lyricists.”
Frank Sinatra.

Soulshine General Information

General Bio
Soulshine is a youth orientated website founded in July 2004. Launching mid April 2005, Soulshine is the grassroots brainchild of the independent Australian youth; an online community where people nationwide can gather to share their experiences, express their opinions and educate each other about everything from music and art, to environmental awareness and world politics.

The basis of Soulshine is an online community that brings together fans of Australian artists to share and discuss all things music and creativity related. People nationwide will be able to interact and share experiences, their own talents, introduce new music they may have heard and participate in helping to spread the love of music to all.

We aim to become the source for all Australian Independent Music lovers to find information relating to the one thing that transcends all races, religions and people. Music. We aim to support new artists, through providing them with the launching pad they need to succeed. We aim to expand on our community we have formed, building the friendship and drawing on the support when needed of the people we have become so close to.

Music
Music!!! The wonderful world of inspiration and hope! This section of the site will be focused on profiling new exciting artists from Australia. A biography, list of releases, multimedia and contact details will be the focus of the profile. Just to keep you up with new artists, we will have a showcase which will keep you all on the ball! Our comprehensive gig guide will feature all the gigs from all our profiled artists. Gigs will be reviewed on a regular basis and our contributors will post amazing photography! With music/lifestyle festivals becoming so popular in the last few years, we have a feature section dedicated to festivals where you can find out lineup’s, ticket prices, travel guides and have a discussion on who from our community is attending.

Community
This is what Soulshine is all about – it provides an open forum for all members and visitors to discuss current issues, music, meet-ups or anything that someone might see as interesting! Local guides allow for members to find information about travelling interstate, supplying guides on venues, accommodation and general hotspots. ‘Op-shop of the month’ is one of the funky features Soulshine provides! Simply a monthly review of an op shop with interviews of the staff, photos of great buys! Here at Soulshine we got you all covered…music, friends, politics, and even making sure you are the spunkiest looking chicken on the dance floor!

Creative
Creativity is so beautiful and unique, Soulshine wants to embrace the individuality of all those creative souls out there – so we are awaiting your input! Don’t be shy now! Writing music, photography, poetry, painting, story writing – basically anything that Soulshiner’s want to express!! Whether it be personal, political or amusing, we want to provide a central point of expression for all our members. Our user galleries provide a way for members to upload their own personal photos and art. A generous file size limit applies to each gallery. Comments/reviews can be posted about each piece of art/image.

Submit
This is where the Soulshine’s community can post whatever tickles their fancy!! From poetry, music, non image related material, it all features right here! We also accept demo’s from unsigned artists and give artists space on our website for a profile and a download section. So all you go-getters out there waiting for some publicity – your dreams could start here at Soulshine!

News/Issues
For all you politicians or greeny’s, this section is aimed at informing visitors of current news and issues that interests you from political affairs to the environment. Contributors will investigate issues with the help of organisations dedicated to their cause. Fact sheets will be available on a range of current and past issues such as politics, logging, litter and general information…so don’t just sit there – get involved and do something!

Links
Our links section pretty obviously provides links!!! To music, creative, environmental, fun and other relations.
