The Flower Cut: Film Festival is the brainchild of Fleur Arnold, 30, a
recent graduate of the inaugural Film Producers course at the Victorian
College of the Arts.
“My aim in running this festival is to create an event that integrates
musical and film genres whilst encouraging an innovative artistic process”.
Fleur has watched her festival grow - from an evening at her own home, where
120 people watched musicians and bands accompanying Super Eight films, to
the Capitol Theatre in 2004, where film, music, photography and a digital
media installation featured in an “amazing fusion of films and live
orchestrated music”.
In 2005, the Flower Cut: Film Festival has a new home at the Forum in
Melbourne. This year, the night will also feature a photography exhibition,
where five visual artists will provide images that encapsulate the unique
style of Melbourne, and a native flower installation from CANOPI and KI ART,
who do installation Art for indoor and Outdoor events including the Rainbow
Serpent Festival. A selection of Bands will also be performing at the After
Party in the Forum
Fleur has again put out the call for short silent films and has received
expressions of interest from as far a field as America and Iran. She is very
keen to hear from any young filmmaker or band interested in being part of
the festival.
