ACCA Regional Tour 1
A series of exhibitions curated by the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) will be exhibited concurrently at three regional Victorian galleries from April. ART1 is a new initiative aimed to bring the latest works from ACCA’s pool of artists and commissions programs to regional Victoria.

Crowded House have announced a special Sydney show for their fans, to be performed at the Enmore Theatre on Wednesday, March 31, as part of a trio of Australian dates.
This show is a rare intimate venue appearance by the band whose most recent Australian tour was a series of sold out major arena shows. One of our region’s greatest ever bands, Crowded House have an epic back catalogue, including such incredible songs as ‘Weather With You’, ‘Four Seasons In One Day’, ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’, ‘Fall At Your Feet’ and ‘Locked Out’.

Hot on the heels of releasing their mind-numbingly brilliant debut 10”, those crazy cats from Teen Archer will be bringing their trashy rock and roll sounds (and maybe even a saxophone too) to Yah Yah’s this Thursday night. In a kickarse lineup, they’re teaming up with the playful mess of DW, The Beat Disease, who two weeks ago tore the roof off Pony at their launch and the troublesome kids from Rupture Farms. What a way to get the gig-going part of the week started. Thursday nights at Yah Yah’s have never been so tempting.

This Thursday night at Pony is a genre-hopping lucky dip of local talent. Kicking off proceedings will be Benn Bennett and Chas Forrest who’ll serve up catchy cocktails mixed from synth and drums. Mmmm, tasty. Next up are The Lands who’ll treat you to an immersive experience in discordant rock, channeling the melancholy of Sonic Youth and the romance of My Bloody Valentine. Third on is Sam Price, a drummer/composer who has a longstanding practice in sonic manipulation. Fusing generative digitalia with abstracted instrumentation, with no preconception of form, the live compositional process is led by the timbre/sound at hand the net result sounds like organic machinery. And to finally round out the night will be ChottoMatte, an incongruous tapestry of live electronics and instrumentation embodying a ritualistic frenzy of dramatic improvisation; a powerful and evocative performance that approaches shamanic spirit possession.

Trjaeu is celebrating the release of their debut EP Home at Pony next Friday. Conceived over the changing seasons of 2009 and also heavily inspired by those seasons, Home is a collection of puzzled-together rhythms and layered textures that ebb and flow dynamically through numerous styles and themes. These ideas resonate with the listener on several levels, they are both introspective and inclusive. Home is ready to be adapted and shared with all in the appropriate environs of Pony. Helping to create the cooking on the evening are Raymond Scott Walker, Blankface Distortion and Duck Duck Chop. This fine mix is sure to create a vast palette of sonic intricacies, so different, yet absolutely complementary of each other. So come out of the cracks, woodwork and closets of Melbourne and join in the festivities at the Trjaeu EP Launch.
