GLIDE with TOBY MARTIN (Youth Group) and special guests: ON SALE NOW!
The heyday for Sydney based Glide saw the band connect with a generation of music lovers in the 90s through the gifted song writing, guitar playing and singing of front man and creative leader William Arthur. Acknowledged at the time as one of Australia’s most accomplished and original songwriters, Arthur’s untimely passing in 1999 left behind a musical legacy that will now be acknowledged with the release of Glide’s entire back catalogue through iTunes. For the first time since the late 90s, the original Glide line-up will perform a very special show at the East, with Youth Group’s Toby Martin on vocals, bringing to life once more the work of William Arthur.

THE GOOD SHIP
Announcing their debut album ‘Avast! Wretched Sea’
LET’S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT: THE GOOD SHIP IS A VERY BAD SHIP
Some bands come along that are family-friendly; you can buy their CDs as presents for your mother, play their music in shopping centres, or as background music at all-ages family get-togethers. The Good Ship are NOT that band.
Drawing inspiration from fellow denizens of the deep like Nick Cave, The Decemberists and The Pogues, The Good Ship’s tunes do somewhat explore the seedier side of humanity somewhat.

TRJAEU
MR MAPS
CAUGHT SHIP
Gearing up for the release of their debut album Wire Empire in October, Mr Maps has just released its double A-side single ‘Nice Fights’. Catch Mr Maps on Thursday 1 July at Pony in Melbourne with local Melbourne noise wizards TRJAEU and Caught Ship. A giddy rush of mathematical manoeuvres and angular grooves, ‘Nice Fights’ falls away into the occasional reflective moment only to jet back into the foreground complemented by frantic drumming and bombastic unison lines. Accompanied by the additional A-side ‘Fly, You Monumental Mistake’, which carefully walks the line between ethereal subtlety and aggressive energy, these two tracks are like nothing you’ve heard before. Mr Maps celebrate the release of ‘Nice Fights’ with an extensive single launch tour throughout June and July, including this much anticipated visit to Pony, so don’t miss out. Copies of the double A-side single will be available at all shows.

IN TONGUES
CAST & CREW
BARYSHNIKOV
Come one, come all! Possibly four of the best bands going around Melbourne at the moment, all appearing on the one stage, on the one night. Barely out of their teens, Ships Piano thrash, wail and holler through a set full of charisma and enthusiasm. No one can deny their brash and catchy tunes. After selling out their EP Launch in May, the infectious post-punk rhythms of In Tongues will leave you gyrating on the dance floor and still wanting more. Cast & Crew melt together to create some noise in order to assault the ears of their listeners. Opening the show, Baryshnikov will suck you in with their upbeat style of DIY pop.
