returns to Melbourne International Comedy Festival with his sell out hit show 5-STEP GUIDE TO BEING GERMAN 2.0 and a brand new show EX-GERMAN

Following on from the sell out success of 5-Step Guide to Being German, Paco Erhard returns to the Aussie shores to tour his brand new show, Ex-German,

5-Step Guide To Being German 2.0
Where: The Elephant & Wheelbarrow (Cnr Exhibition & Bourke Sts)

The German-born, globetrotting bohemian beatnik comedian, Paco Erhard has lived in eight cultures, speaks four languages and is ready to take us on a
journey that asks the ultimate question…
“Where 5-Step Guide to Being German explores cultural identity, in Ex-German I go deeper and hit harder, as I question identity itself and explore the
ultimate question: How to be happy in a world we know is essentially f***ed,” says Paco.

Paco Erhard is now half way through his 2013 Australian Tour of Ex-German and 5-Step Guide To Being German: both shows have toured Perth Fringe World
and Adelaide Fringe Festival and will continue on to the Sydney Comedy Festival once his seasons at Melbourne Comedy Festival are complete.

“For 5-Step Guide To Being German, this will be my last run of the show, so it’s your last chance to catch it.” says Paco Erhard.

Paco Erhard can be heard on South Australia’s Radio FIVEaa on Sunday Evenings and has featured on many radio stations including BBC, ABC, SBS,
RTE (Ire), Radio 7 (Ger) as a comedian and cross-cultural expert. He has also written about the Euro-crisis and the German psyche for the Irish

Music Fundraiser for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

Music Fundraiser for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
These Machines Cut Razor Wire, an annual roots music fundraiser for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, returns to The Thornbury Theatre for its third year at 2pm on Sunday, April 14 with a massive line-up including:
Chris Wilson, Jeff Lang (Aria Blues Album of 2102 winner), Charles Jenkins, Suzannah Espie (Port Fairy Folk Festival Artist of the Year), Fraser A. Gorman, The Stillsons (duo), Nigel Wearne, Bill Jackson, Alison Ferrier, Mandy Connell, Beautiful Change, Ruth Lindsey, Les Thomas and more will be raising their voices in song with an inspiring afternoon of music in the spirit of compassion and justice for asylum seekers.
The name for the event was inspired by the inscription on Woody Guthrie’s guitars: “This machine kills fascists”. Given Woody Guthrie’s tendency to speak up for the powerless and persecuted, our guess is that “These machines cuts razor wire” would be fitting in Australia, 2013.
TICKETS ON SALE NOW $25 plus booking fee. Under 12s free.
See www.thesemachines.org.au for details and tickets.
Proudly supported by Unpaved, 3CR, 3RRR, 3PBS and the Refugee Action Collective.

SCREEN SECT: CRY BABY (John Waters, 1990)
SCREEN SECT is a film society night devoted to rarely seen, obsessively loved and criminally neglected cult classics of cinema. Revisit old favourites, uncover hidden celluloid gems, indulge guilty pleasures, or just get yourself an education.
CRY BABY: John Waters’ parody of 1950s teenage musicals like ‘Grease’ may feature his most conventionally-attractive cast (Johnny Depp, Amy Locane and Traci Lords), but still manages to celebrate the ‘otherness’which characterises his freaky ouvre. Rockin’ good fun.
The MAKE IT UP CLUB has been presenting a weekly program of avant garde/experimental improvised music in Melbourne for 15 years now, and there’s no slowing down. It features local, interstate and international performers who play everything from the acoustic to the electronic, jazz to rock, harsh noise to lilting sonority; what unifies themusic presented at the MAKE IT UP CLUB is that it is predominantly freely improvised and exemplifies the cutting-edge aspects of the genre/s it derives from. It is the longest-running program of it’s kind in Australia.

The Doors Experience

The Doors Experience
Cardiff Panthers Sat 20 April
Doors 7.30pm, starts 8pm Members $5, non members $10 Ph 4979 1900
One of the most authentic tribute shows Australia has ever seen. This show will transport the hardest of critics back to the Whiskey in 1968. Singer Andy Sutton (UK Countdown / Dirty Deeds) is the ultimate Jim Morrison as he struts his stuff with reckless abandonment. Vocally, he has Morrison’s voice ‘down to a tee’ with a ‘close your eyes and it’s Jim’ effect!
Playing the part of Robbie Krueger is Adam Watts (Rattle and Hum / Australian Made) recreates those classic Doors solos ‘note for note’. Our very own Ray Manzarek is played by Sean Phegan (Rattle and Hum / One Hit Wonders) you will lose yourself in those classic organ solos that are so authentic.
Driving this ship from the rear is Vinnie Bondin (Ex Endless Summer Beach Party) on drums pumping out those beats keeping it all together from first song to last. All this with the ambience of a classic Doors light show and stage props makes this a SHOW NOT TO BE MISSED!
