Ice Cream Hands reunite to play Sweeter Than The Radio
2015 sees the return of one of Australia’s best loved pop outfits, ICE CREAM HANDS.
Formed in Melbourne in 1992, the band downed tools in in 2007 having notched up 6 albums, 2 ARIA nominations, countless miles and many memorable shows.
Since the last ICH shows in 2008, frontman and songwriter Charles Jenkins has continued to delight new and old fans alike with 6 acclaimed albums as a solo performer and with his band The Zhivagos.
Now, 16 years after the release of the critically acclaimed ARIA nominated “SWEETER THAN THE RADIO”, Charles reunites with Derek G Smiley and Douglas Lee Robertson and very special guest guitarist Davey Lane to play the album in its entirety in a string of special performances mid 2015
To commemorate this rare re-grouping, ICH will release a re mastered VINYL collector’s edition of this watershed album. One of the first recordings to be produced by the talented Wayne Connolly, SWEETER THAN THE RADIO boasts crowd favourites like DODGY, NIPPLE and YELLOW AND BLUE.
Following sold out shows at Pigsky Festival and in Melbourne, they hit Sydney to play the album from start to finish, as well other selected hits.

THE SECRET GARDEN

Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) in association with Melbourne Festival presents

THE SECRET GARDEN
Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg
Saturday 10 October —Sunday 22 November
Curators Juliana Engberg & Louise Neri.

Surreal and ultra–sensory, ACCA’s exhibition The Secret Gardenby Swedish artists Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg opens up a netherworld of strange delights and encounters.
This is the first time that Djurberg and Berg’s work will be seen in the Southern Hemisphere. In their immersive landscape, sculpture, light, sound and film mix to dazzling effect. But don’t be fooled by its apparent benignness; in the nooks and crannies of this psychic and hallucinatory place, the id runs riot with tales of trouble in paradise.

True Fiction - Melbourne Fringe Festival world debut

Filed under: contemporary art, Theatre, Gigs, General — site admin @ 1:03 pm

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the live, improvised documentary, TRUE FICTION. Presented by Black Canvas Theatre, this show is entirely improvised from a single audience suggestion. Our cast then create a live documentary with all the hallmarks for which we’ve come to know the genre: chats to camera, flashbacks, re-enactments, witness statements, you name it!

The show brings together some of Melbourne’s top impro comedy talent for a limited Melbourne Fringe Festival season at the brand new The Improv Conspiracy Theatre - from 30 September to 3 October (no show 28 September).

Originally devised by Cape Town improv troupe, ImproGuise, and directed by South African ex-pat, Candice D’Arcy, this is the first time True Fiction has been staged in Australia. Because of the nature of the show, our material plays very well in a live setting - so if you’re after guests for radio or TV, look no further. Our players are more than happy to come in for a chat and add some entertainment to your already awesome shows.
