Ding Dong - 4 DJ’s

Ding Dong is proud as hell to present the return gigs of one of Melbourne’s most loved DJ’s in 4 special performances that add up to a mini residency of sorts.

The kid known as Dexter is about as respected as it gets in parts all over the world, ever since putting himself on the map by being Australia’s acknowledged DJ master as 4 time Australian champ and coming 2nd in the world DJ championships, only being knocked out of first place by DJ Craze.

It was no surprise those savvy cats Bobby Dazzler scooped him up to join their band The Avalanches and take the ride with them to international superstardom. He played a significant role in the sound of their album Since I Left You which has become one of the most loved Australian albums of all time.

It was a bumpy ride but one the world was a better place for and after eventually going back out on his own Dexter continued on his way knocking people’s brains out with the awe inspiring brilliance of his DJ sets.

Pretty much anybody living in Melbourne into class DJing would have come across him at some point and enjoyed the vibe that happens when Dexter spins.

After a little hiatus he’s back and over 4 nights in August you get the chance to come hang and enjoy where Dexter is at right now, fresh and ready to rock and kick some ass xxxxx xxxxx’s
Fridays 5,12,19 & 26 August.

Welcome to the Satellite Lounge
Beaming live entertainment into your suburb.

Once upon a time, every Melbourne suburb had a hotel with live music. It was a way of life: you watched Countdown, listened to the radio, and headed off to the pub with your friends to see Australia’s best bands. Live music has always been one of life’s great pleasures, with the exhilaration of the crowd dancing and singing along.

Times have changed, and you now have to go into the city (mostly) to get your fix of live music. It’s not just a thing you can do on a whim, with taxi fares and parking costs adding up very quickly, not to mention standing up for hours trying to get a decent viewing position.

Well now you have another choice … and it’s much closer to home.
The Satellite Lounge is opening at the Wheelers Hill Hotel in August. It’s a venue with a long history of live entertainment and it’s easy to get to, with plenty of free parking. Just a short drive from both the Eastlink and Monash Freeway exits, The Satellite Lounge sits right on the corner of Jells & Ferntree Gully Roads, featuring a large outdoor terrace with views of the Dandenong Ranges and promising patrons an experience above and beyond the expectations of normal “pub” style entertainment.

Industry stalwarts Mark Burchett (Flying Saucer Club) and Neil Wedd (Thornbury Theatre) will be programming the entertainment. Having many years of experience in running venues and promoting live music, Mark and Neil know what makes a great night out. The Satellite Lounge will offer an exciting and diverse program of live entertainment playing host to a wide variety of music including high profile local and international artists, the best up and coming acts as well as outstanding tribute shows.

Adjacent to The Satellite Lounge is the main Wheelers Hill Hotel complex, where the bistro will offer 10% discount to Satellite patrons seeking pre-gig dining. On offer are a superb variety of food styles, with craft beers and wines, fostering an atmosphere of old school sophistication.

The Tarantinos @ The Spotted Mallard

Filed under: pop music, contemporary art, punk music, Live Music Venues, rock music, Gigs — site admin @ 7:20 pm

The Tarantinos at The Spotted Mallard
Sat 6th August 2017. 7pm.

Inspired by the Writer/Director Quentin Tarantino, 5 musicians from Melbourne formed The Tarantinos based on their fascination with the incredible versatile soundtracks accompanying his films.
They play the best known, (and some lesser known) songs from the films Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Dusk till Dawn, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds and his latest hit Django Unchained.
The Tarantinos embody all the hard hitting style of the films in which they play the supporting soundtracks. With audio samples from the films, sharp costumes and an attitude to match, The Tarantinos bring their energy across the various musical genres that accompany films that have inspired them for many years.

The Surf/Rock clasics like Dick Dale’s “Misirlou”, The Lively Ones “Surf Rider”, George Baker Selection’s “Little Green Bag” and April March’s Chick habit are just a few of the amazing selection The Tarantinos have to offer in their always growing repertoire of songs from these amazing cult status films.
