On-line Applications for the 23rd Illawarra Folk Festival at Bulli to be held from 17 to 20 January 2008 are now open and will close 31 July 2007.

The Illawarra Folk Festival has been held annually in since 1985 and is one of NSW’s premier music festivals organised totally be volunteers.
Home to the Festival is the City of Wollongong, one of the most culturally diverse communities in Australia with many of its residents born outside Australia and with many languages other than English spoken in the home.
Cultural activities have produced a vibrant artistic community and the Illawarra Folk Festival has showcased them since the beginning. The Festival was held in the village of Jamberoo for 20 years but moved to Bulli in the northern suburbs of Wollongong in 2006.
Performer applications are now being accepted and will close 31 July 2007.
2008 Festival Theme - Australia on the Move - Performers Wanted
The Festival has had special themes in the past including The Spanish in Australia, Pacific Rim and The People’s Forest.
The 2008 Festival will feature the songs, the stories and the poetry by, and about, those Australians whose life is spent constantly moving around.
Performers are encouraged to indicate if they have material on Gypsies, Sailors, Swaggies, Depression Dole Seekers, Transient Gold Miners, Aborigines, Circus Workers, Sailors, Shearers, Canecutters, Fruit Pickers, other itinerant workers and of course the latest phenomenon - The Grey Nomads to fit in with the theme.
