A Concert for David Marama aka Mr Clean @ Howler on 11th October

Sunday Oct 11th
Howler, Brunswick
The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra
The Royal Swazi Spa
Afro-Lankan

The Melbourne music family and African communities come together for a massive concert to celebrate David Marama’s brilliant contribution to live music in Melbourne. The event features The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, Ray Pereira’s Afro-Lankan drum ensemble and the township jazz sounds of the Royal Swazi Spa with all proceeds donated to Marama as he recovers from a recent illness.

Highly regarded and well respected in the community, David is an accomplished multi-award winning artist originally from Malawi/Tanzania and has performed alongside some of the world’s best musicians in Africa and Australia. With an illustrious career spanning over more than three decades, his distinctive and ubiquitous guitar playing style can be heard on many fine African recordings.

Hosted by award winning journalist Santilla Chingaipe (SBS News), the soiree will commence with a sensational Afro-Lankan drumming performance led by percussion maestro Ray Pereira, followed by the laid back township jazz flavoured sound of Royal Swazi Spa. The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra will then take the stage as the final act for a grand performance reminiscent of Fela Kuti’s sound, followed by some of Melbourne’s greatest DJs, keeping the dance floor pulsing for the rest of the night!

Doors open at 4:00pm and tickets are available TODAY from http://www.moshtix.com.au/v2/event/a-concert-for-david-marama-aka-mr-clean/80126

Don’t miss out on this huge night of African music and a chance to celebrate and support one of Melbourne’s most influential African musicians.
