ABBY DOBSON at Manchester Lane

Filed under: contemporary music, Gigs — site admin @ 9:25 am

Abby Dobson, who returned to the live music scene last month wth a terrific show at the Northcote Social Club, is pleased to announce a series of intimate shows at Melbourne’s iconic Manchester Lane. Fans of Abby’s sublime vocal talents will be able to hear songs from her highly anticipated new album ‘Rise Up’, due for release later this year.

Abby has put together a new band for the shows, which features Chris Tabone from the Badloves and Mal Pinkerton from The Anyones. For those that missed the opportunity last month, a limited edition ep sampler called ‘Stealing Sunshine’ will also be available on each night. Special guests each week include Grand Salvo on May 30, Special Patrol (SA) on June 6 and Charles Jenkins (Icecream Hands) on June 13.

ABOUT ABBY DOBSON
Abby Dobson formed the band Leonardo’s Bride with Dean Manning in 1992. After releasing several independent eps, in 1997 they released their critically acclaimed debut lp, ‘Angel Blood’, which achieved gold sales as did their hugely popular single, ‘Even When I’m Sleeping’, which also won the APRA ‘Song of the year’ award. In 2000, they released their second album, ‘Open Sesame’ and decided to split indefinitely at the end of that year, to the disappointment of their many fans.

Abby has since collaborated with other musicians, including working with Paul Mac on his album ‘3000 feet high’, which went gold, releasing the single ‘gonna miss you’ and contributing to his second album ‘The Panic Room’ and touring the country extensively. She was also invited to contribute new songs for special television episodes of ‘The Secret Life of Us’ and the soundtrack albums. Her songs, ‘I’m not missing you’ and ‘Don’t ask for more’, received widespread radio play.
