The late great Continental (entertainment venue) once located in Prahran, remains unrivalled in Australia’s live music scene. Opening in the June of ’93, it wasn’t long before the Conti, as it became affectionately known, gained international acclaim. The Conti hosted hundreds of gigs and a promotional poster was created for almost each one.

Designed by artists Graham Barker and John Bleaney, the posters soon became a Continental trademark. Owners Mario Maccarone and Mario DePasquale (also of Marios Café) were exact in their desire to create a venue that was stylish and respected. That ethos, and the breadth of talent through the doors, is reflected in this poster exhibition.

With the Continental’s closing some years ago it was now time to find new homes for the posters. An entire autographed collection has been donated by the Marios for auction and all proceeds go to help Triple R settle into their new home in Brunswick. It’s an extraordinary list of national and international performers that spans many years and it’s all up for grabs. Get your hands on a piece of music history to hang on your wall and support community radio too.
