At Last!
JEFF BECK

It was 1977 when Jeff Beck made his first and only trip to Australia, 32 long years ago for his legion of fans.
FINALLY, in 2009 guitar legend Jeff Beck returns for a series of rare and VERY special performances:

PERTH CHALLENGE STADIUM FRIDAY JANUARY 23
ADELAIDE THEBARTON THEATRE SUNDAY JANUARY 25
MELBOURNE PALAIS THEATRE MONDAY JANUARY 26
BRISBANE CONVENTION CENTRE THURSDAY JANUARY 29
SYDNEY ENMORE THEATRE FRIDAY JANUARY 30
TICKETS ON SALE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 25

Described by Rolling Stone as “one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock, Jeff Beck has helped shape blues rock,
psychedelia, and heavy metal”, the magazine ranked Beck 14th in a poll of ‘100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time’.

Touring with Jeff Beck is a stellar line-up:
Vinnie Colaiuta – drums Tal Wilkenfeld – bass David Sancious - keyboards
In the mid-1960’s Englishman Jeff Beck began on a path that would see him leave his indelible mark on modern music history, an
astounding career spanning over 40 years of revolutionary and evolutionary jazz fusion, hard rock and electronic guitar stylings that has opened the door to guitar instrumentalists such as Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.

Jeff Beck first came into the spotlight in 1966 when he followed Eric Clapton as lead guitarist of The Yardbirds. Though only in the
band for less than 2 years, Beck featured on most of their well-known classics like Heart Full of Soul and Shape of Things, before
departing in 1967 at the height of their popularity.
He went on to form the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart and Ron Wood. The group released two albums Truth (’68) and Beck-Ola (’69), before splitting - Stewart and Woods then forming The Faces. After a new line up and 2 further albums, the Jeff Beck Group disbanded.

In 1975 Beck released the first of two landmark albums.
Blow By Blow, produced by George Martin, was a groundbreaking instrumental jazz-fusion album. Next came a collaboration with
keyboardist Jan Hammer on Wired (’76). Both these albums received critical and commercial success, and are still listed amongst
the top-selling guitarist instrumental albums of all time.

Moving in and out of retirement, in 1980 the reclusive Beck released There And Back, again featuring Hammer, then followed by the Nile Rodgers produced Flash (’85). Flash features Beck’s most commercially successful single People Get Ready with one-time
band-mate Rod Stewart on vocals, and is also home to Escape, the tune that won Beck the first of 4 Grammy Awards for Best Rock Instrumental.

Subsequent Grammy’s were awarded for Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop with Terry Bozzio and Tony Hymas (’89), Dirty Mind lifted from You Had It Coming (’01), and Plan B from his 14th studio album Jeff (’03).

Heading to the US West Coast with Vinnie Coliauta on drums, Pino Palladino on bass and Jason Rebello on keyboards the shows
were immortalized on Official Bootleg USA 06 (’07). According to Guitar World Magazine “Beck and his group turn in rapturous
performances on material that covers every portion of the guitarist’s career… Beck’s finger-picking technique, tone and touch have always been astounding, but Official Bootleg demonstrates that, some 40 years into his career, he is a peerless master of his craft”.

More recently Jeff Beck played to over 30,000 people at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago, on the bill with the
likes of BB King, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy and Clapton himself, with the critics raving:
‘Jeff Beck turned up the volume and the jaw-dropping virtuosity’ Chicago Daily Herald
‘Beck made his guitar cry for mercy through one instrumental jam after another’ NorthWest Herald
Earlier this year in London, 64 year-old Beck was awarded the Blues Artist of the Year Award, and has been nominated for 2009
induction into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame as a solo artist.
