Singer/songwriter Austin recorded his EP at a show at the Evelyn back in August, and has spent the last couple of months getting it ready for release. The EP, titled “Live In Fitzroy” is now ready to go and is being launched at a series of shows in early November.
Recorded by Jimi Maroudas with the full Austin band, ‘Live In Fitzroy” features Anthony “Shorty” Murray on drums, Luke Richardson on upright bass, Indiana Avent on violin and Austin on guitars, harmonica and vocals. The ep is a five track eclectic mix of Austin’s original tunes drawing from blues and gypsy jazz traditions with Austin’s gorgeous vocals over the top.
Starting with the track “I See You There;” a bluegrass tune, it opens up to an array of styles from “Roads To Follow” with its gypsy feel, through to “Nothing To Lose” a blues jam session. Together they still keep to Austin’s rich and distinct sound.
The EP will be launched at three shows around the state:
