Bar Open Gig Guide

Monday 7 th December
SCREEN SECT - Silent Running (Directed by Douglas Trumbull, 1972)
Trumbull, responsible for the (then) state of the art special effects in Kubrick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, helms this ecologically-themed sci-fi film, in which the last of the spoiled Earth’s forests survive on orbiting spaceships. A moving central performance from Bruce Dern lies at the heart of an increasingly relevant film. Essential viewing for fans of Duncan Jones’ recent ‘Moon’, for which it was an obvious source of inspiration..

LANEOUS & THE FAMILY YAH
SIETTA
The “Loveable Tramp with the clamped, cramped fist in the air like he just don’t care”, Laneous makes grunty Rudeboy Soul and Croon Punk for the BackBeat Generation. Joined by the 4-piece Family Yah, the Monte Carlos of Brisbane’s assorted creams and the all singing, all dancing, all romancing Bird Fire Choir, Laneous sets stages alight with psychedelic hip hop fires. Laneous has become somewhat of an icon in Brisbane, playing a staggering number of shows and having recorded, toured and played with countless musical projects. Having dropped out of school at 15 to pursue music, he has proudly never worked a day job and never received a cent from the government…he’s been too busy making music to stand in a dole cue. Laneous & The Family Yah are renowned for their high energy and dynamic stage shows, which is helped along by the fact the band features one of Brisbane’s hottest rhythm sections. Catch this formidable live experience at Bar Open this Saturday night with special guests Sietta.
