Brilliant Fanzine - Launch New Single @ Gertrudes
Brilliant Fanzine ‘Change For You’ Single Launch
Friday October 19 – Gertrudes, Melbourne
w/ labelmates Grand Atlantic and Adrian Whitehead (‘Radio One’ EP Launch)
This November will see indie popsters Brilliant Fanzine release their debut album ‘Then Comes Monday’ through Popboomerang Records. Recorded with the assistance of producer Simon Polinski (The Church and Tim Finn) throughout 2006, ‘Then Comes Monday’ references 60’s pop, rock, psychedelia, country, disco, trance and indie music’s finest.
The first single to be lifted from the album is the sonically vicarious ‘Change For You’, which Brilliant Fanzine will be launching Friday October 19 @ Gertrudes, Melbourne with labelmates Grand Atlantic and Adrian Whitehead (‘Radio One’ EP Launch).
‘Change For You’ hit stores Australia wide on October 6th and is the band’s first release since their debut EP ‘One In 10,000’ shook the Australia music landscape in 2005.
‘One In 10,000’ earned rigorous high rotation airplay from JJJ, RRR, PBS and FBI, and saw Brilliant Fanzine heralded as “one’s to watch”, gracing the pages of J Mag and being touted as “The next big thing” by Victoria’s largest-selling paper the Sunday Herald Sun.

“In a period where the 70s and 80s have run wild across the musical landscape it’s possible that Brilliant Fanzine’s carefully orchestrated pop could be the hand that rocks the big riff cradle in 2007. If you’re looking for a band that can tie-up the 90s in such a way that its aural trademarks are delivered with only a hint of nostalgia and a finish that makes it a sound for the future then Brilliant Fanzine definitely have what it takes to be your 21st Century boys.”

“Bands Rocking Robbie’s World- Brilliant Fanzine: with members hailing from the UK, Canada and Australia, this decidedly multinational effort produces a subtle form of deceptively lush indie pop…despite being recorded in a kitchen and lounge room.”
Robbie Buck, J Mag
“‘One in 10,000’ is really quite sublime. Melbournian five-piece Brilliant Fanzine have crafted an evocative song using little more than some acoustics, keys and a snare drum. It’s only their debut EP (and is really just a well-recorded demo), but already they can count amongst their fans none other than Triple J luminaries Richard Kingsmill and Robbie Buck. Add this insufferable dreamer to the list.”

“These folk were relatively unknown to me but once I heard their debut single ‘One in 10,000’, I became hooked. It’s a daring mix of indie rock and pop sensibilities but it works a charm. With five equally impressive songs found on this EP, including the fascinating energy of division, the orchestral instrumental of Reprise and the joyous almost epic Come down, Brilliant Fanzine look like firmly establishing themselves as “the” band to watch next year.”
Mark Rasmussen, Buzz Mag
“These guys could become an indie phenomenon”
