BROOKS AND DUNN RETURN TO AUSTRALIA
BROOKS AND DUNN RETURN TO AUSTRALIA
“They’ve had over 23 number 1 hit singles …”
“They’ve sold over 30 million albums worldwide …”
“They’re the most awarded act in American country music history …”
They are … BROOKS & DUNN.
Seventeen years after their music career began, the biggest recording duo in the world arrived in Australia for the very first time in February 2008. Those who knew about BROOKS & DUNN were thrilled, and those who didn’t were intrigued. They played sold-out houses across the East Coast of Australia, proving to the 40,000 strong audience just why they are so deserving of such accolades.
Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, Chugg Entertainment and CMC are thrilled to announce the return of these country music superstars in May 2009, and while the mystery of BROOKS & DUNN is no longer, the anticipation of a second tour is palpable.
The partnership of KIX BROOKS and RONNIE DUNN may be Nashville’s most successful marriage since Johnny and June. Previously, Ronnie had been a quietly intense singer, known for his soulful voice, and Kix had been a high-energy, larrikin showman. Neither had been able to break through as individual solo artists .. but together, they hit upon a winning formula of exuberant, honky-tonk rock, mixed with punchy, dance beats and smooth, pop-tinged, power ballads. The combination has been explosive.
BROOKS & DUNN released their debut album, Brand New Man, in 1991, as an out-of-the-box smash, with its first four singles going straight to number 1! Their current CD, Cowboy Town, released here earlier this year, is their thirteenth album, with its first single, Proud of the House We Built, also going straight to the top of the ARIA country charts.
These guys have built a massive career by recording great songs - album after album. Sydney Music Writer, Tim Holland (02/03/08), described their show in February 2008 as being “a two-hour glossy extravaganza, featuring hit after hit! .. An extra special, straight-up-the-guts country act!”
Melbourne journalist, David Dawson (05/03/08), said “the audience was totally pumped by the duo’s vocal and stage gymnastics”. Brisbane’s Bob Anthony Jr (10/03/08) was impressed by “the 10-minute, standing Mexican Wave in the stadium, pre-show, to welcome the boys on stage!” Bob also said the show “featured blistering performances, leaving the crowd wanting much more”.
Kix Brooks (02/11/08) said, “Australia was one of the most fun times we’ve had playing music!”
This time around, BROOKS & DUNN will be also joined by one of the hottest male artists in American country music today, DIERKS BENTLEY. Bentley, who’ll be making his first journey to Australia, recently released his first Greatest Hits CD in the US, and is sure to provide another high-octane wow-factor to this Concert Spectacular.
Boasting one of the biggest rock and roll shows touring America today, BROOKS & DUNN will kick off their second Australian Tour in Perth at Burswood Dome on May 1st, followed by shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on May 4th, Sydney’s Acer Arena on May 6th, with a final concert on May 9th at Brisbane’s Entertainment Centre.
If you missed them last time, make sure you’re there in 2009! And get your tickets early! Last time, their first concert sold-out in just one hour!
