MONDAY 27th DECEMBER
SCREEN SECT: THE HIT (Stephen Frears, 1984)
A huge influence on films like Sexy Beast, Frears’ lean, claustrophobic gangster tale stars Terence Stamp as an informer and retired criminal whose past catches up with him in the form of two hitmen, the world-weary John Hurt and his hot-blooded apprentice Tim Roth. Brilliant, Pinter-esque minimalism and menace.

MONDAY 6th DECEMBER
SCREEN SECT: HURTSVILLE!
Probably best known for having an extraterrestrial explode spectacularly from his chest in Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien, we think it’s high time to take a look at some of the career highlights of John Hurt, an incredibly versatile character actor, whose CV is a rich and varied feast of intense, iconic and idiosyncratic roles.
