Satellite Lounge Opens with Ross Wilson & The Peaceniks Aug 2016

Sat 6th August 8.40pm
Rosw Wilson & The Peaceniks.
Welcome to the Satellite Lounge
Beaming live entertainment into your suburb.

Once upon a time, every Melbourne suburb had a hotel with live music. It was a way of life: you watched Countdown, listened to the radio, and headed off to the pub with your friends to see Australia’s best bands. Live music has always been one of life’s great pleasures, with the exhilaration of the crowd dancing and singing along.

Times have changed, and you now have to go into the city (mostly) to get your fix of live music. It’s not just a thing you can do on a whim, with taxi fares and parking costs adding up very quickly, not to mention standing up for hours trying to get a decent viewing position.

Well now you have another choice … and it’s much closer to home.
The Satellite Lounge is opening at the Wheelers Hill Hotel in August. It’s a venue with a long history of live entertainment and it’s easy to get to, with plenty of free parking. Just a short drive from both the Eastlink and Monash Freeway exits, The Satellite Lounge sits right on the corner of Jells & Ferntree Gully Roads, featuring a large outdoor terrace with views of the Dandenong Ranges and promising patrons an experience above and beyond the expectations of normal “pub” style entertainment.

Industry stalwarts Mark Burchett (Flying Saucer Club) and Neil Wedd (Thornbury Theatre) will be programming the entertainment. Having many years of experience in running venues and promoting live music, Mark and Neil know what makes a great night out. The Satellite Lounge will offer an exciting and diverse program of live entertainment playing host to a wide variety of music including high profile local and international artists, the best up and coming acts as well as outstanding tribute shows.

Adjacent to The Satellite Lounge is the main Wheelers Hill Hotel complex, where the bistro will offer 10% discount to Satellite patrons seeking pre-gig dining. On offer are a superb variety of food styles, with craft beers and wines, fostering an atmosphere of old school sophistication.

Alive, Intimate & Up Late

Dolly Diamond returns to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2016 after a very successful debut in 2015 with The Real Queen of Moomba. Her new show, DOLLY DIAMOND: ALIVE, INTIMATE & UP LATE sees this British born diva at the prestigious Melbourne Town Hall in an evening of song, sass and schmoozing with some sexy special guests.

“I’m thrilled to be performing at the Melbourne Town Hall. I appreciate the promotion,” Dolly says. “I’ll be in the Old Met Shop, which is where they used to sell tickets, I believe…before MYKI ruined everything.”

Dolly Diamond is in her element when she’s performing for her fans and swapping stories with her very close, personal, show-business friends. This is when she shines brightest and audiences are in for one hell of a ride.

Dolly is thrilled to be welcoming an array of celebrity guest stars across the season. These include Julia Zemiro, Joel Creasey, Em Rusciano, Kane Alexander, Supergirly, Chelsea Gibb, Tina Del Twist, Geraldine Quinn, Ally Fowler and Yana Alana, amongst many others! This is a night of comedy cabaret and these special guests will each perform a song with Dolly.

“I count myself lucky to have such warm and generous friends, who are only too keen to share my spotlight in order to promote what they are up to.”

In this brand new show, Dolly is accompanied by musical maestro Mark Jones - these two were meant for each other! These cabaret icons have selected a collection of wonderful songs, an eclectic mix of reinvented classics and originals. She sings live and she means business. Funny business.

“While the show is filled with laughs from start to finish, underlying the overt comedy is too performers who can really deliver the musical goods. Diamond has one hell of a voice.”

After sell out shows at the Clock Tower Centre and Fringe World in Perth, Dolly is raring to bring her show home to Melbourne. Dolly Diamond is one sharp-tongued comedy goddess and she is ready to take the 30th Melbourne International Comedy Festival by storm.

“The highlight is Dolly’s interaction with the audience and her band, which redefines what it means to be quick-witted, and leaves the audience hoping for a song so they get a chance to stop laughing and catch their breath.” HERALD-SUN
