Cam Butler - Save My Soul

Filed under: Live Music Venues, folk music, Tours — site admin @ 5:51 pm

Cam Butler - Save My Soul
Save My Soul (Symphony No. 3) is the follow up album to Cam’s album of 2008, Dark Times (Symphony No. 2). Featuring a true symphonic lineup of a 23 piece string section (conducted by Benjamin Northey), orchestral harp, timpani and percussion, drums, acoustic guitars and solo electric guitar, the result is the finest example yet of Cam’s orchestral vision to combine modern electric guitar techniques and sound with string orchestras.

With a timeless, quasi-modal sound, the music of Save My Soul is deliberately written in related keys - A minor / A major, D minor - and has a basic 3/4 pulse through each of the 5 movements or tracks. With Save My Soul, Cam wanted to write an album that was gentle and uncomplicated but still passionate and emotionally gripping.

THE SONGS OF VAN MORRISON AS PERFORMED BY JOE CREIGHTON
Joe Creighton grew up in Belfast during the late 60s with a backdrop of the civil rights movement, riots, religious and social unrest, all to the soundtrack of early Van Morrison songs with the band Them. These were very exciting times and he can still remember walking down Royal Avenue or Ann St (Belfast’s equivalent to Carnaby St, London) and hearing the anthemnic chorus of ‘Gloria’ booming out of boutiques and coffee shops. As a teen he would go and watch Them perform at local venues and that early influence cemented his love for this style of music that is now reflected in his own song writing and singing style.
