With front man Joe Creighton born and raised in Belfast, he is able to bring a tremendous authenticity to his show that pays homage to the legendary Irish songwriter that is Van Morrison.
Legendary Australian singer and bassist Creighton grew up in Belfast during the late 1960s under the backdrop of the civil rights movement, riots, religious and social unrest – remarkable times played out to the soundtrack of Van Morrison and a band simply known as Them.

From the coffee shops on Belfast’s Royal Avenue, the anthemnic chorus of G.L.O.R.I.A boomed, cementing a style of music that Creighton has carried with him throughout a stellar career. Known primarily as one of this country’s most formidable bass players that has seen him tour with John Farnham, Kylie Minogue and Olivia Newton John, Creighton is also a singer/songwriter with his debut album ‘Hollywell’ released in 1994 to critical acclaim. Into the Mystic sees Creighton effortlessly recreate the feeling of those heady days and releases the essence of the music that was so integral. He takes the audience on a journey that begins in the 1960s and moves through the decades encompassing Van’s worldwide hits with a sprinkling of some of the more mystical poetic songs from Astral Weeks.

BRISBANE – Ireland The Show
Wednesday March 16, 2016 at QPAC
https://www.qpac.com.au/event/ireland_the_show_16.aspx

Ireland The Show set to paint the town green: Gold Coast March 13 + Brisbane March 16 just days before the celebration of St Patrick’s Day!

From the country that has given us Bono, Liam Neeson, Niall Horan, Oscar Wilde and Van Morrison, comes the show that sets fire to the stage!

The Irish are headed our way and they are bringing all the colour, characters and high-kicks that have made the whole world fall in love with the emerald isle.
Ireland The Show is an exciting full throttle new Celtic production celebrating the very best of Irish heritage and culture showcased by a cast of world champion Irish dancers, musicians and singers. The show stars for one night only on the Gold Coast on March 13, before heading to Brisbane on March 16.

The show kicks off (literally) with a whirlwind of energy, as the musicians create lively, inspiring tunes, pushing the dancers to new levels of artistic expression, and transporting old traditions from the Irish fireside to the international stage. It’s the music that makes your skin tingle, and the dances that makes you want to join in. The expressive language of dance ranges from a gliding shimmer of subtle soft shoe choreography, to pounding dramatic hard shoe steps. The execution of seemingly effortless high kicks is married perfectly with modern polish, Irish charm and dazzling Vegas-style Celtic costumes.

The show is produced by Brisbane born talent, Ethan Walker who currently has stage productions playing all over the world. He is just 29. This will be the first time in front of his hometown audiences.

Now based in Las Vegas, Ethan Walker’s career curve is already extraordinary. He morphed from a Brisbane teen with a dream, to sleeping in the alleyways of Dublin, Ireland to world tours with renowned dancer, Michael Flatley’s spectacular Irish dance show, Lord of the Dance.

After randomly starting Irish dancing when he was 14, his talent shone and after just two years, he decided to join a show. His plan was devious and dedicated!!! “I had a pen pal in Ireland, and kind of forged a contract from this made-up dance company, posted it to her in Ireland, and asked her to send it back to my address in Australia,” he said.

“So when it arrived, my mum, being nosy, sees this contract that has arrived from Ireland, and opens it.” Bait taken!! After much cajoling his parents lent him the money to fly to Dublin for the “job”, still totally unaware that the dance contract was a ruse. “I arrived in Ireland, and had nowhere to stay, no job. I had told my parents accommodation was being provided. I think the hardest part was living in an alleyway with my suitcase, just huddled up for a couple of nights.” Walker laughs. “I would go to a pay phone, call my mother, and act like, ‘oh, it’s great, rehearsals are going fantastically,’ then go back to my alleyway.

“Luckily, there was a show in Killarney (population 13,000), that I tried to get into. They gave me an audition, and I got the job.” From here Walker snuck to Dublin, to audition for legendary Irish-American step dancer/choreographer/producer Michael Flatley, who promptly hired the now 17 -year-old for his newest dance extravaganza, “Celtic Tiger”. He then spent two years traveling the world, dancing in both of Flatley’s hit shows, Lord of the Dance and Celtic Tiger.

Performing wasn’t enough, Walker wanted to produce, and so he created IRELAND- The Show! Fast forward four years, and the show has toured the US, receives standing ovations at every performance and has an Irish Music Award Nomination.

Last year Walker launched his first ever Las Vegas production, Piano Man at the V Theatre, Planet Hollywood and he will open Alice in Wonderland in New York this coming July.

The Beggars Sing The Seekers
Sat April 18
The Beggars Sing The Seekers is The Beggars Tribute to The Seekers wonderful fifty year career. Can an Adelaide Folk trio in 2014 be the 1960’s London based international hit making machine? Of course they can.
“The best Australian vocal band since the Seekers” Normie Rowe [Australia] 2011
From their early days in the Melbourne cafe scene to London, swinging centre of the 1960s pop universe, The Seekers rode a rollercoaster of pop/folk hits! In 1968 their BBC TV breakup special Farewell The Seekers broke TV viewing records and their popularity has not faded with the years. Following in the great Aussie tradition set by Dame Nellie Melba and John Farnham, The Seekers have broken up and reformed countless times.

Considered “one of the finest artists of her generation”, Iris DeMent has established herself as one of the most beloved and respected writers and singers in American music. Her debut album ‘Infamous Angel’ was deemed an “essential recording of the 90s” by Rolling Stone and the NY Times said it “distills love, heartbreak, disillusionment and humour in songs that go straight for the heartstrings.” Its 1994 follow-up, ‘My Life’, earned a Grammy nomination in the Contemporary Folk category. 1996’s ‘The Way I Should’ addressed political as well as personal themes and also earned a Grammy nomination. 2004′s ‘Lifeline’ was a collection of traditional gospel songs that she sang as a child growing up in a Pentecostal household. In 2012, she released the critically acclaimed ‘Songs From The Delta’ twelve self-penned compositions that the Boston Globe called “a work of rare, unvarnished grace and power”.

Tony Joe White
Wednesday March 18
The Swamp Fox, Tony Joe White, is a bona fide legend of the music game that has been honing his craft for the best part of 50 years. And it will be on display once more as he returns to Australia for an 18 date tour that will see him play shows in Sydney, Dee Why, Cronulla, Hurlstone Park, Coogee, Bulli, Kincumber, Newcastle, Medlow Bath, Devonport, Melbourne and Newport. The tour will also include appearances at Boogie Festival, Forth Valley Blues Festival, Blenheim Festival and Byron Bay Blues Festival. Tony Joe White was literally born for the blues, the part-Cherokee musician being brought up as part of a big brood on a cotton farm in Louisiana, raised on a diet of Lightnin’ Hopkins and local bluesmen, an upbringing reflected to this day in his evocative, haunting music and adding a veneer of authenticity to everything that he touches.

Love & Special Sauce are making their triumphant return! 20 years after the release of their self-titled debut album and 8 years since their last live performance together, the original line up of G. Love & Special Sauce arrive on the back of their 2014 album Sugar, breathing new life into their groove-heavy, Chicago-Blues infused brand of stripped down Rock and Roll. With the influences of Elmore James, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker and Lou Reed, the band has stripped themselves back to the old-school air of their first record with a mature and developed instrumentation without losing any of the unique, funky American Blues vibes that were the foundation the bands success.
