HIATUS KAIYOTE
Fresh from blowing up heads at Woodford Folk Festival and a mini-tour Hiatus Kaiyote are back in Melbourne to play a few sneaky shows before going deep into the studio to finalise their debut EP due out in April.Their rare sound is a hybrid breed of neo-soul, future beats, freakish time changes and coupled with a strong live performance that’s seen them compared with the likes of Little Dragon, Bjork, Georgia Anne Muldrow and The Dirty Projectors.They’ll be joined on the 27th Jan by DJ Ty spinning future beat and nu-jazz goodness in-between their two sets.

Possibly the most expensive ‘home-movie’ ever made, in which the director of ‘Repo Man’ and ‘Sid & Nancy’ packs off to Spain with an all-rock-star cast (including The Pogues, Joe Strummer, Elvis Costello, Dennis Hoper, Jim Jarmusch, Grace Jones and Courtney Love) to create a twisted blend of spaghetti western and heist movie. British singer-songwriter Cosmo Jarvis has already courted controversy with his viral sensation ‘Gay Pirates’. The self-directed video for ‘Pirates’ has received over half a million YouTube views following a twitter post by Stephen Fry. Continuing in the thought-provoking vein of ‘Gay Pirates’, Cosmo also released the controversial video to his follow up single ‘Sure As Hell Not Jesus’ which he wrote and directed himself, exploring the themes of shame and redemption from a papal perspective. His album ‘Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange’ will be released on Friday 30 September.
