Ed Kuepper, the one time Saints guitarist/songwriter and band leader for post-punk giants the Laughing Clowns, and Wegener, the original drummer for The Saints and only other mainstay along side Kuepper in the Clowns, reunited after a 20 years sabbatical earlier this year to perform the live soundtrack to a series of avant-garde films by New Zealand film maker Len Lye. Kosheen return to Australia for the first time since their massive shows with the Big Day Out in 2002. The group were the biggest selling dance act that year and their single ‘Hide U’ from the debut album ‘Resist’ became a worldwide hit earning them a multitude of awards. Darren Decoder and Markee Substance provide the drum & bass and electronic undertones, which are fused seamlessly with the soulful vocals of singer Sian Evans. This intimate club show will include a DJ set from Darren Decoder and Markee Substance (Kosheen DJ’s) playing a unique blend of house electro and breaks, before being joined by Sian to road test new material as well as performing their classics. Shapeshifter play a rare headline show in Melbourne. Living up to their reputation for bringing the house down with sets of tight dancefloor d’n'b, peppered with jazzy undertones, they have been wowing audiences here and across the Tasman (where the band originated). Shapeshifter’s popularity is reflected in their latest hit LP release Riddim Wise (2004) which has gone gold in NZ. A fundraiser show for the Edmund Rice Camps which offer holiday programs for some of Victorias most disadvantaged children. The camps take place every school holidays and are staffed by young adult volunteers who provide care, supervision and sound role-modelling for participants on a minimum one to one ratio. This fundraiser show offers a great afternoon and evening of music featuring some of Australia’s biggest performers all donating their time to support the Edmund Rice Programs.
