Creedence legend JOHN FOGERTY to tour Australia
THE LEGEND OF CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL, JOHN FOGERTY IS back as you know and love him: recognisable, rootsy, swampy, soul-scratched and potent … and will tour Australia in March next year.
Chugg Entertainment and the Bluesfest today confirmed Fogerty’s 2008 Australian tour will include stand-alone shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and will go on sale with gold and silver priced tickets this Thursday December 20 ahead of the Christmas break. Fogerty is joined for his show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre with rock-legend cohort, Don McLean.
Fogerty’s Sydney Entertainment Centre concert is on sale at ticketmaster, with Brisbane and Melbourne from ticketek.
Chugg Entertainment Executive Chairman, Michael Chugg, said the three stand-alone concerts were in addition to Fogerty’s already announced Festival appearances – Perth’s West Coast Blues & Roots Festival (Mar 16), Victoria’s Point Nepean Festival (Mar 22), Hobart’s Southern Roots Festival (Mar 23) and Bluesfest Byron Bay (Mar 24) – and confirmed the rock ‘n’ roll Hall Of Famer would play Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on March 19 and the Sydney and Brisbane Entertainment Centres after Easter on March 26 & 27.
Fogerty has toured Australia twice before, in 98 and 05. Both times the shows were brilliant and one music critic commented he was so great both times fans would definitely be back.
Chugg encouraged fans not to miss the show and to buy tickets early despite being close to Christmas. “John’s new album is what fans of Creedence have wanted and been waiting for,” he said.
“His concerts have always sold well and we expect die-hard fans to snap up tickets pretty quick.
“He’s promised Creedence classics on the set list.”
Fogerty is one of the most recognisable voices in rock, one of its greatest song-writers and the man who penned Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou, Rockin’ All Over The World, Bad Moon Rising, Up Around The Bend, Run Through The Jungle, Fortunate Son and a swag more.
One of music’s greatest guitarists and producers is back … knee-deep in the swampy, southern grooves and itchy rhythms that rooted CCR and their know-every-word songs into the annals of rock history and into the album collections of millions the world over.
Fogerty’s new album Revival [out in Australia through Universal], unabashedly evokes CCR, has the critics rapturous, is selling like the proverbial, crawling all over the charts and is Grammy-nominated for Best Rock Album.
Fogerty’s new songs hark back to the old ones and he tips his hat in the newly penned Creedence Song and is thrilled to return to the influences that are “at his centre”.
John Fogerty has stopped, revived and survived. In March next year the guy Rolling Stone named one of the greatest guitarists of all time will be live on stage in Australia doing it the way we know he does it best. Hallelujah and about time!

Why does Adelaide miss out? Surely the Adelaide Entertainment Centre would be big enough and ticket sales would be enough. My six year old loves John and his music and we\’re very disappointed! COME ON!!!
