From Daniel:
Weltanschauung is a German word that my dad taught me quite by accident in an email. It’s a great word. It means - 1) The overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world. 2) A collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or a group. 3) A comprehensive and usually personal conception or view of humanity, the world, or life.
Cool.
A show about leaves, contraryism, hope and heroism.
From Others:
“Supremely talented…His appeal is unquantifiable and unquotable, but lies in a singular alchemy of intelligence, integrity, humanity, honesty and a sense of being at home in his own skin…A masterpiece of stand-up.”
The Observer (UK)
“His imagination doesn’t just run riot – it burns down the city with a single match … a ferocious writing talent.”
The Times
“An essential gig for fans of cutting edge stand-up comedy.” Sydney Morning Herald
That most guiding of comedic lights, Daniel Kitson once more sets out from his house on a quest to rescue minds from the gutter, to inflate souls, to send hope soaring to the clouds. To brush the dross from people’s eyes. To cleanse spirits of mediocrity. To make hearts thump a little more audibly. To join hands and to build, build a place where we can grow old together. Our eyes staring ever outwards, our memories like rocket fuel for our dreams.
He will be using jokes.
That is to say UK stand-up comedian Daniel Kitson is coming back to Brisbane to do stand-up comedy.
He was here last year. He did some shows. Some people came and laughed. Then more people came and laughed … a lot. Why wouldn’t he come back to a place that seems to like him and his wonderful stories?
Regarded as a must-see gig wherever he plays, Daniel Kitson performs 5 shows at the Brisbane Powerhouse from Tuesday May 9 until Saturday May 13.
For 90 marvellous minutes, the beardy, bespectacled Kitson will have you smiling at his achingly beautiful insights and giggling at his profanity-addled rants.
Daniel Kitson has enjoyed great success on the world stand-up scene. He is a Perrier Award winner, nominee for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s prestigious Barry Award and, Time Out London winner for Best Live Performance. Most recently Daniel won a 2005 Fringe First Award for his new show Stories for the Wobbly Hearted, which debuted at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival last year.
