Ember Swift 2005 Australian Tour
Canadian independent music sensation, Ember Swift, will kick-start a sixth Australian tour with her vibrant politically-charged folk-jazz-funk band at the Brunswick Music Festival on March 5.
A poignant songwriter, recording artist and fierce political/social activist, Ember – described as “one of the most passionate, provocative and funny songstresses of our generation.” - will perform in music festivals and venues across five Aussie states.
Ember’s jazzy, shimmering vocals and sophisticated acoustic guitar is teamed with the charismatic electric bass and violin musicianship of collaborator and business partner, Lyndell Montgomery. In 1997, they launched ‘Few’ll Ignite Sound’, their own independent record label and have since released eight records and maintained a performance schedule of more than two hundred shows a year.
Making up the touring trio is Adam Bowman on drums & percussion who also plays on Ember’s latest CD ‘Disarming’ (released in Australia on March 7). “I look for those who … find the honesty charming,” sings Ember on the title track of a new album that serves up a genuinely beautiful song collection of substance, reflection, love and humour.
