EMILY ULMAN DECLARES HER LOVE FOR INNER CITY MELBOURNE

EMILY ULMAN DECLARES HER LOVE FOR INNER CITY MELBOURNE WITH SIX LEAPS AND BOUNDS MUSIC FESTIVAL DATES.

Emily Ulman is one of the most active people when it comes to Melbourne’s live music scene, running Ulman-Nation which has left her very little time to focus on her own musical career, but this is about to change.

Emily Ulman established herself as one of Melbourne’s finest singer-songwriters. Emily is applauded for her lyrical honesty (ranging from moving and confessional, to humorous and self-deprecating), and the sheer beauty of her clear, distinctive vocal delivery. Her albums and live performances have received critical acclaim including glowing reviews for her opening supports for Beth Orton, M Ward, Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Tex Perkins, Jolie Holland, Neko Case, Tim Finn, Laura Viers, Billy Bragg. One can’t help but notice the immediacy and strength of Emily’s songwriting with her ability to move any audience. Emily is in the studio recording her fourth album due for release in the second half of 2014.

So Leaps and Bounds Music Festival is a perfect opportunity for Emily to road test some of her new material in six of inner north Melbourne’s most intimate venues including Kent Street, the Standard, Grumpy’s Green, Long Play, the Owl & the Cat and Some Velvet Morning. Joining Emily will be different guests for each show such as Phil Gionfriddo (Jacky Winter, Sam Cooper (Sagamore), Etta Curry and Nellie Jackson (Loose Tooth), Gorman Fraser, Lucy Jean Roleff and Sarah Mary Chadwick. It pretty much is a tour of Yarra without Emily having to travel too far from her home base and reclaiming herself as a Melbourne based singer songwriter rather than a mover and shaker – which she still is. Emily Ulman is a brilliant multi-tasker.

Dan Brodie is also playing a series of shows for Leaps and Bounds Music Festival July 4 – 20.
