Northcote Uniting Church – Grab yourself a coffee and some cake while taking in the Grand Final of the Darebin Music Feast Songwriters’ Awards. Witness the creative talents of the Synergy Gallery, a palette of youth inspired music and entertainment, and kick back to the worldly tunes of Sol Nation, The Zamponistas plus more.

Jazz on 86 – Returning to High Vibes for another year of jazzed up delights are the free flowing tunes of Darebin’s jazz community, playing live in and around a tram parked outside the White Wall Gallery. Supported by Yarra Trams.

If that’s not enough to satisfy your aural appetite, wander along High Street and take in the earthly pleasures of the garden party hosted by Market 208, sample café fare and tasty musical morsels at Stuzzi, partake in the festivities at the Kick Gallery, have a brew or two at the Peacock Hotel, get experimental at the Kerala Gallery, enjoy some ear-bending balladry at the PBS Songwriters Collective Stage, get a dose of guitar based songwriters at the Salty Dog or immerse yourself in the splendid glory of the Regal Ballroom.

For the 8th year running, the High Vibes 2008 festival will see Northcote’s High Street turned into a thriving enclosure between Clarke Street and Separation Street. The festivities run from 11am to 10pm and unofficially mark the beginning of Melbourne’s festival season. High Vibes 2008 offers the chance to shake off the winter cobwebs, un-furrow the brow and enjoy a day of community camaraderie across eleven hours of unadulterated spring.

Alcohol will be served in licensed venues and designated areas within the festival precinct, and as per last year BYO is not permitted. A number of the venues will be extending al fresco style into High Street offering plenty of outdoor spaces to sit back and soak up the atmosphere, not to mention the opportunity to sample the culturally diverse menu of culinary delights that showcase the quality of High Street’s local eateries.

High Vibes 2008 – Planet of the 8th will close the 2008 Darebin Music Feast in celebratory style on Sunday 21st September, bringing together local traders, musicians and the music loving community in some of Melbourne’s favourite music venues.
