WAYNE GILLESPIE
Gillespie is best known for releasing three acclaimed solo albums in the 80s and 90’s.
Wayward Son -1984 (Finalist for NZ Folk Album of the year and winner of an APRA award), New Locations 1987 (produced by Fairport Convention member the Late Trevor Lucas) and Living in Exile (featuring Nigel Gavin, Dave Dobbyn & Margaret Urlich).
He is also the author of songs such as Invercargill, Number Thirty-Seven and Ten Francs which have become Kiwi folk classics.
His songs have been covered by the likes of Luke Hurley, Mike Harding, Denny Stanway, Marcus Turner, Chris Priestley, The Pog band and local rockers the Narcs.
Now living in Sydney, in 2003 has returned to Auckland to play a one off concert with Nigel Gavin & guests at the Devonport Folk Clubs venue The Bunker. This performance was recorded and due for release in March 2005.
They are launching the album at The Cat & Fiddle in Sydney on 23rd March and will tour NZ in April 2005 with Nigel Gavin to promote this new release.
NIGEL GAVIN
Nigel Gavin is best known internationally for his time touring the globe with UK guitar legend Robert Fripp’s League of Crafty Guitarists in the 80’s & 90’s.
He has also featured with Australian bands Gumbo Fever, Beacastuff, and Monsieur Camembert and local bands Jews Brothers, Gitbox and Nairobi Trio. Now he has released his second acclaimed solo album Thrum.
Nigel will also be appearing at the Frankston Guitar Festival March 18-20th 2005.

Since Nigel first appeared in Wayne’s New Location band in the late 80’s the pair have performed regularly both in duo and band formats at New Zealand and Australian music venues, folk clubs and festivals up to this present
time. Gavin’s playing also features extensively on Gillespies’ third album Living in Exile.
Recent Live performances include the Thredbo Global Roots Festival 2001 and annual performances at the Devonport Folk Club venue “The Bunker” from 1999 to 2003. These shows have proved extremely popular and they decided to record the last show in 2003. The album being recorded and mixed by talented engineer/producer Steve Garden and due for release in early 2005.
This album features:
Nigel’s playing 7-string guitar and mandolin. Wayne on acoustic guitar and vocals. The pair is joined on some songs by local singer Caitlin Smith (The Fondue Set) and Bass player Tony Waine (The Narcs).
