The Festival
Australia’s finest Reggae, Soul and Dub music festival; Island Time is returning for 2007. Held annually on Stradbroke Island over three huge days in October, Island Time is a multi faceted celebration of Island Culture that includes art exhibitions, craft and music workshops, film space, stalls and food markets. 2007 will see over 40 mighty reggae, soul and roots acts from all across Australia and the Pacific - including a Murri and Pacific Islander dance and cultural program - gather on Minjerribah (Stradbroke) Oct 19th – Oct 21st for a celebration of music, dance and art.
Island Time is held on the world famous Point Lookout on Minjerribah (Stradbroke). Only 90 minutes from Brisbane, the festival site itself is located in the park beside the stunning Home Beach. Held in the peak of the whale migration season, Island Time offers a unique interaction between music and nature with festival-goers afforded the chance to take in migrating whales and dolphins between bands, or simply bask in the cooling azure waters of the South Pacific.

The Music
*Just In* – The final line-up announcement for the 2007 Island Time Festival sees the bolstering of the local contingent of acts, with Banawurun, Mr. Laneous, Chocolate Strings, and Dubdoubt signing on for the almighty weekender.
The latest announcement adds to an already bangin’ lineup of acts, with The Black Seeds from NZ heading up a bill where the Brisbane acts alone, represent the crème de la crème of our local scene. Kooii, Dynamic Thrills, Heavyweight Champion, The Shire, Taste Of Tea, Kafka, Schoolfight, Spankinhide, Rudekat Sound System, Scuba D, Georgia Potter and Dubmarine will join Rastawookie (Syd), Kingtide (Syd), Symbiosis (Melb), Red Eyes Sound System (Melb) and Natty Sistren Sound System (Melb) - bringing together Australia’s finest reggae and roots talent. Bombastic Byron Bay quintet Dubshack will be joined by fellow Northern NSW acts Tommee (Byron), Yeshe (Byron), Fyah Walk (Byron), One For One (Nimbin) and Krazy Dayv (Byron).
Highlighting the depth of talent throughout coastal and regional Queensland will be Minjerribah local acts Pipi Lips, Quandamooka, Clara Durbidge, Paula Boo and Yulu-burri-bah Dancers + K-gari Dancers from Fraser Island and Zennith from North Queensland. Gold Coast acts Grassroots Street Orchestra, Cool Calm Collective and CC The Cat will be matching it with Sunshine Coast local Paul Abad, whilst theatre performance group Polytoxic will be providing entertainment throughout the weekend.
The focus of Island Time 07 is on sustainable living and recreation. Where possible, stages will be powered by renewable sources, and participants will be encouraged to weave their own hat and drink a coconut instead of a coke.

Island Time recognise the Nunukul, Nhughi and Goorunpul tribes as the traditional custodians of Minjerribah (meaning ‘land of the mosquito’). Proceeds from the festival will help to raise money for the Yulu-burri-bah/Saltwater Murris Art Gallery, Youthlink, and Brisbane’s independent broadcaster 4ZzZ FM.

Is it still possible to order a copy of this compilation CD? I live in the States and just found out about this. :) I\’m comin next year for sure!!!!
