Jacqui Hoy in ZEN AND THE ART OF BAKING
(a cabaret and a cooking show)
Join award winning cabaret vixen Jacqui Hoy (“… funny, musical and mesmerising” – Marina Prior) for this culinary cabaret concoction! Stories, laughs, songs and the odd bit of whipped cream are all on the menu when we take a step into Jacqui’s favourite place, the kitchen.
With her favourite co-star – FOOD – and the deliciously talented Vicki Jacobs tinkling the keys and licking the beaters, it’s sure to be the tastiest cabaret morsel in town!
Jacqui says the idea for her new show was a simple one, to combine her two favourite things – the kitchen and music.
“The kitchen is indeed my Zen place, the place I go to clear my head. I problem solve with baking! There is something about the simplicity of the clear instructions for a recipe, that you follow and get the expected result that brings clarity to your brain,” Jacqui says.
“I think the kitchen is the centre of the home. You’ll always find me in the kitchen at parties! It’s the place where the stories are told, gossip is dished, tears are spilt and laughs are had.”
“During this age of a world gone diet mad and the almost demonizing of food, I think we have all forgotten what a joy food is. It’s sensual, it’s fun and if you treat it the right way it’s nourishing for the body and the soul! And couldn’t we all use some more nourishment?”
“If someone has made it for you with love, even the simplest meal can be the most comforting thing in the world,” Jacqui says.
“So in my show I want to remind everyone that food and cooking is intrinsically linked to our feelings and body and that it’s FUN!!”
Samples of Jacqui’s culinary concoctions will be enjoyed by the audience throughout the show.
