JAYWALKER Announcing The Release Of Their Debut Album ‘The Light & Shade’ + East-Coast Launch Tour

Filed under: pop music, rock music, CD Launches, Tours — site admin @ 3:24 pm

With their debut album ‘The Light & Shade’ out February 12 through MGM / JM Records, Central Coast band Jaywalker have hit 2010 running. In support of the album’s release – Sanity, as part of their “Breaking New Artists” promotion, will be featuring, displaying, playing and selling ‘The Light & Shade’ in every single one of their 240+ stores nationwide. Jaywalker will also be playing several instore performances as they tour the east-coast through February and March on their album launch tour.

The tour will also be partially funded by the Commonwealth Government, after the band was recently awarded a grant under the prestigious Australian Contemporary Music Touring Program.

The building blocks for a massive 2010 have been steadily falling into place, with the band – consisting of singer songwriter Jason Hicks, Bob Allan (guitar), James Dennett (drums) and Justin Miranda (bass) – recently supporting the likes of Xavier Rudd, Kate Miller-Heidke, Sarah McLeod, Killing Heidi, Diesel and Jack Jones. Jason Hicks also just took out the award for Best Male Vocal at the 2009 Newcastle Music Awards, whilst the band was nominated in another three categories, following on from their three nominations in 2008. They were also the runners-up of the 2007 ‘People’s Choice’ Category at the Australian Music Oz Awards.

After the success of their self-titled EP and single ‘You Live, You Learn’, Jaywalker recently retreated to the studio with acclaimed producer Stuart Stuart (The Veronicas, Small Mercies) to record the debut album ‘The Light & Shade’, instore nationally February 12.

Says Jason of ‘The Light & Shade’: The album’s name itself came from the variations in the meanings, tempos and dynamics of each of the tracks. Tracks such as ‘Your Finest Hour’, Green Light’ and ‘20 Years From Now’ tend to highlight some of the most uplifting, positive and memorable moments of your life, in contrast ‘Crash and Burn’ and ‘Faces of February talk about some of the darker, challenging areas – the latter being written for and about the people involved in the Victorian Bushfires last year and the amazing strength and courage they showed through it all.

Playing live is why we play and write music, sounds cliché but true. We have always made sure any songs we write and record we could produce live. To be able to travel up and down the coast and play our music is just a whole lot of fun.

The Light & Shade Tour

With a new album in their back pocket, Jaywalker will be packing the van and travelling the east-coast, playing 20 dates through February and March to launch ‘The Light & Shade’.

Touring alongside Jaywalker is Los Angeles born and bred singer songwriter Aras Baskauskas, an inspirational lyricist who’s been selling out shows right across the US. Aras and Jaywalker immediately became fans of each other’s music after being introduced, and talks of a collaboration quickly developed into an invite for the Californian to join them on their album launch tour. Aras is currently in the studio recording his debut album with famed producer Tony Berg and his songs are currently being played on several high profile US TV shows. www.myspace.com/oddus.
