Julie Lambourn in ANYONE OUT THERE?
“Unique and exciting … funny, musical and mesmerising” – Marina Prior
Winner of the inaugural Capers Cabaret Showcase Award in 2004, Julie Lambourn is finally building a reputation beyond her long-suffering family and friends. In this new comedy cabaret, Julie delivers a diverse range of songs as she chats about a wide range of topics.
Laugh along as this girl from the country recalls her first shopping trip to Chapel Street, featuring Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ as you’ve never heard it before. Whilst her Jackson 5 Medley will have you tapping your feet, her musical account of her first dance class at Bartuccio’s will give you an insight into why she’s a singer. And Julie makes no apology for revealing her most annoying songs (remember The Proclaimers?), which will undoubtedly get stuck in you head.
Never got to see ‘Mamma Mia’? Don’t worry, Julie’s written her own Abba Musical, but she’s been able to condense it to 3&½ minutes. A Pete Murray number, a song about Barbie (yes, the doll) and the Aretha Franklin soul classic ‘Think’ all await you.
This is a very rare opportunity to hear such gems performed by one of Melbourne’s most respected emerging cabaret performers, accompanied by John Thorn on piano, in the intimate setting of The Butterfly Club.
Julie’s love of singing began back in primary school when she was learning guitar and decided to sing along. Whilst the guitar now gathers dust, Julie has performed as lead vocalist in a variety of bands with styles including Soul & Blues, Jazz & Contemporary.
Her passion for the stage developed whilst completing training at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and The National Theatre Drama School in St Kilda.
Music Theatre credits include Svetlana in ‘Chess’ (Camberwell Theatre Co); ‘Godspell’ (Phoenix Theatre Co) and Angel City Four member in ‘City of Angels’ (Whitehorse Musical Theatre). Julie also completed a 20-month season at Dirty Dicks Medieval Madness Theatre Restaurant; luckily before the restaurant closed down. More recently Julie has ventured into the cabaret arena and was winner of the Inaugural Capers Cabaret Showcase Award in 2004.
