Kate Miller-Heidke ‘Little Eve’ tour
It’s been a huge few months for Kate Miller-Heidke. Hot on the heels of her debut album ‘Little Eve’ being nominated for five ARIA Awards, the Kate Miller Heidke Band also performed a show-stopping live performance at the ARIA ceremony itself, which aired Sunday October 28th on Channel 10.
Literally breaking box office records, Kate’s recent ‘Trash and Treasure Tour’ sold out venues right across the country and earned her another torrent of rave reviews such as:
“I wasn’t expecting to get goose-pimples from the simple magnitude of a woman singing. Walking home from the show I had a thought that she didn’t sing like an angel. She sings like a fallen angel – on the surface all halos & white, but beneath it a mischievousness that does nothing if not make you adore her”

Now, The Kate Miller-Heidke Band – featuring: Sallie Campbell (Violin, Keys, Vocals); Keir Nuttal (Guitars); Ben McCarthy (Bass, Vocals) and Steve Pope (Drums) – have just announced their ‘Little Eve’ tour. Taking them all across Australia, right through to the end of 2007, the ‘Little Eve’ tour will be the last chance to catch Kate live this summer.

‘Little Eve’ – The Album
Beautifully combining her unique musicality and the fascinating peculiar girl inside, Kate Miller-Heidke’s debut album ‘Little Eve’ is in-stores now through Sony/BMG. Fresh, sparkling, innovative, slightly loopy folk/pop – it’s a collection of charming and diverse songs about life and the world. The result of a focused and determined artist, Little Eve has generated much praise from critics and the public.
“An eclectic debut which miraculously captures the essence of a singular talent who uses her operatic voice to get folky on captivating narratives and whimsical fables. This local artist is a breath of fresh air, a folk pop writer who dresses her simple melodies and stories with her expressive voice, fine piano playing and deft ensemble of musicians.”
Kathy McCabe – Daily Telegraph 21/06/07
“This is utterly brilliant. Miller-Heidke is almost single handedly flying the flag for offbeat female artists in Australia.”
Mikey Cahill – S Press Magazine 13/06/07
“…so addictively good, it’s almost a sin.”
Alice Clark – Herald Sun 17/06/07
The Supports
Dead Letter Chorus: In their first 12 months since forming, this Sydney 6 piece have set tongues wagging aplenty with their impressive, dare we say ‘beautifully shambolic’, live shows. With two vocalists at the helm, Cameron Potts’ raw open tone alternates in perfect combination with Gabrielle Huber. Their debut EP ‘Listen Carefully (We Shall Say This Only Once)’, has garnered strong reviews and airplay around the country. Recent shows have seen Dead Letter Chorus perform alongside the likes of The Vasco Era, Cuthbert and the Night Walkers, Joel Plaskett (Canada), Bertie Blackman, and iOTA. Info at: www.myspace.com/deadletterchorus
Tjupurru: A descendent of the Djabera Djabera tribe, Western Australia, Tjupurru creates a 100% live electronic beat driven soundscape by playing a unique instrument – a cross between a didj and a trombone – a slide Didjeridu called The Didjeribone. A fusion of ancient culture and modern technology, his live show must be seen to be believed. He picks up his sound through a device called the “Face Bass”, a seismic microphone implanted inside his mouth. With the addition of sampling and electronic effects, Tjupurru has enabled himself to perform as a “one man band”, creating live samples and looping them to create songs and soundscapes that criss-cross many musical genres. Media Enquiries to: jordan@topshelf.com.au. Info at: www.myspace.com/tjupurru
Last Town Chorus: Hailing from Brooklyn, NY – The Last Town Chorus are a revolving ensemble led by singer/writer/ lap-steel-guitarist Megan Hickey – whose singular approach to music has beguiled writers and audiences worldwide. Comparisons with Gillian Welch, Cat Power and Mazzy Star abound, but none are right on the money. You need to hear it to understand it, and with The Last Town Chorus, hearing is believing. New album, Wire Waltz, has burned slowly but brightly since it’s initial release in Australia but will be relaunched in advance of the tour. Last Town Chorus will be touring Australia as a three piece: Megan on lead vocals and lapsteel guitar, Rich Hinman (Brooklyn) on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, and Lauren Mitchell (The Dukes, NZ) on keyboards and backing vocals. Will be going to 3 of the Little Eve shows, Cant wait. Last Kate show I saw was at Byron Bay, next will be in Canberra. Kate needs to be seen live to be understood. The best female voice in Australia.
