Alan Musgrove & the Watsaname Band + Sydney Trade Union Choir
Collector & performer Alan Musgrove formed the Watsaname Band **in 2004 to present Traditional Australian folk Song with a passion and commitment that comes from a deep knowledge and understanding of the musical traditions of a bygone Australia.
The Watsaname Band (Bob McInnis & Stuart Leslie) was created in the vein of the “New Authenticity” bands described by Graeme Smith in his history of folk and country music in Australia, /Singing Australia/. Their repertoire covers all aspects of Australian traditional music from British-derived love and murder ballads to old bush songs and songs of Australia’s maritime history. The band perform with humour and vitality, which along with a tight instrumental and vocal sound, stands alone in the field of Australian Traditional music.
