Madviolet @ the Artery
Madviolet (Canada) will be performing at the Artery, supported by Tonchi McIntosh & Jaezed this Sat 3 March.
Doors open at 7 pm, and tickets are $10.
It’s a rare opportunity to see this amazing duo in concert.
Acclaimed Canadian duo Madviolet are singer-songwriter Brenley MacEachern and Cape Breton “fiddlechick” Lisa MacIsaac. For the last four years they have traveled extensively around the world, earning themselves a reputation as one of Canada’s most exciting live folk / country acts. In October 2006, they opened for Hothouse Flowers on a highly successful month-long tour of the Europe and UK.
At the forefront of the new wave of contemporary traditional musicians and singer-songwriters, the duo are renowned for humorous and emotionally charged performances, extraordinary musical abilities and their haunting vocal harmonies.
Madviolet have announced the release of their long awaited second album, Caravan, which includes a number of tracks co-written with Ron Sexsmith. Many of the songs that appear on this latest release were written in Byron Bay, in a caravan after their last Australian tour.
Recorded in London, the album also features numerous guest artists including UK producer and musician John Reynolds (Sinead O’Connor / U2), Claire Kenny (Indigo Girls), Simon Alpin (Teenage Fanclub) and Fiachna Braonain (Hothouse Flowers / Michelle Shocked).
