Melbourne Fringe Festival comedy fundraiser

Filed under: Fundraising, Comedy, General — site admin @ 6:07 pm

THE LOST DOGS’ HOME
Melbourne Fringe Festival comedy fundraiser
this Sat 1 Oct. 4.30pm

The mid-season matinee performance of Joanne Brookfield’s stand up show ‘Princess Pissy Pants The Greedy Cheese Eating Bitch and Other Naughty Dog Tales’ will be a fundraiser for The Lost Dogs’ Home in North Melbourne, this Saturday 1 Oct at 4.30pm.

The Melbourne Fringe Festival show, about the friendships we form with our pets, has also been collecting money each night from audience members.

Combining these audience donations at the end of each show plus the profits from a fundraiser show, the show raised over $1,100 for the Lost Dogs’ Home during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival earlier this year.

“I am very proud to say that we actually exceeded our fundraising target,” says Joanne. “The generosity of the audience shows the goodwill there is out there towards all those who work at the Lost Dogs’ Home and I was very happy to make a donation of my own as well. The goal now for Fringe is to do it all again but this time raise twice as much!”

A mid-season matinee performance of the show will be a fundraiser for the Lost Dogs’ Home in North Melbourne. All tickets will be only $13 for the 4.30pm show on Saturday Oct 1, which is the Fringe’s ‘family friendly’ day so the performance will be suitable for the whole family. There will also be promo showbags full of goodies for every ticket holder.

More than 10,000 dogs end up at the Lost Dogs’ Home in North Melbourne each year, making it the largest dog shelter in the state and third largest in the country. Almost half the dogs that end up in the home are re-united with their owners and new homes are found for another 1,500. The Lost Dogs’ Home run a 24 hour/7 day a week animal ambulance, offer free pet identification tags through their National Pet Register and help not just dogs in need, but cats and other animals as well.

The Lost Dogs Home is located at 2 Gracie Street, North Melbourne. More information www.dogshome.com
