Newcastle performers star in ‘Valentino the Latin Lover’ musical
The new musical hit ‘Valentino the Latin Lover’ will hit the stage in Newcastle featuring its two Newcastle based stars, Amy Vee and Atalie Wilmoth. The show’s creator, David Tydd, auditioned in Sydney for performers and has been surprised by finding so many talented artists from Newcastle.
David Tydd’s new production tells the story of Rudolph Valentino, the big screens first Brad Pitt style idol. ‘It’s a very sexy story’ says David, ‘The 1920’s was a wild era, post war; people really let their hair down.’
Amy Vee is a widely acclaimed songstress, having performed with Diesel, and her own band Amy Vee and the Virtues. ‘When I heard Amys voice I had no doubts she had to play the role of Natacha Rambova’, says David, ‘Atalie introduced me to Amy, knowing that she was perfect for the lead role.’
The show has some spectacular dance scenes, choreographed by Newcastle performer Atalie Wilmoth. Atalie well known for her stunning performances on ‘Strictly Dancing’ has performed in musicals around the world. David searched her out as, ‘she is so talented, I needed someone to create sexy and breathtaking choreography’ says David Tydd. Atalie has also jumped into performing one of the lead roles.
David has previously written and produced the musical blockbuster ‘Rasputin’ in Sydney with Jon English and Angry Anderson. David has been working overseas but has returned to Australia to launch this new musical.
‘David is so inspiring, not only with his creative talent, but also his determination, I’ve never met anyone so tenacious.’ says Atalie Wilmoth.
Valentino the Latin Lover will be here for one night only Saturday September 29th at Newcastle Panthers. Call the club on 4929 7555 for tickets.
