Not the Wolf’s Regional Victoria Tour

Filed under: bluegrass music, jazz music, folk music, General — site admin @ 7:34 am

“Not the Wolf’s” Folk, Bluegrass and Jazz music travels through Albury, Beechworth, Castlemaine and Hepburn Springs over the April School Holidays.

When Geelong musicians Paul Monk and Matiss Schubert decided to perform as a folk, bluegrass and jazz duo, they did not dream they would have such a positive reaction from music lovers, or have so much fun themselves. “I think a lot of people remember us from the *Mongolian Fishmongers *and* McAlpine’s Fusiliers, *but what I think is great, is that at nearly every performance, we find something new we didn’t know we had before,” remarks Schubert, the duo’s fiddle and mandolin maestro with a grin.

Soon after introducing themselves into the local Geelong music scene via the National Hotel’s Groove Room and appearances at Irish Murphy’s traditional music sessions, *Not the Wolf* was invited to set the stage for an international folk star by the Geelong Folk Club. “Yeah, warming up the crowds for Danny Spooner was a real treat. That let us know that we were doing something right. So now we’re planning on spreading the love,”
comments Monk, the pair’s guitarist and vocalist.

Having tested the waters at home, *Not the Wolf* is now launching their TurkeyTeaTour throughout regional Victoria. “We’ve always had a good time in the country and we’re looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones,” says Monk. “This tour has us visiting new venues in towns we’ve played a dozen times. Plus we’ve never toured just *us*, so this is a real adventure we’re going on,” he continues.

Not the Wolf’s adventurous first tour as a duo will take them from their homes in Geelong and Anglesea, Victoria to Albury, Beechworth, Castlemaineand Hepburn Springs over the upcoming school holiday weeks.
