OZZY OSBOURNE Australian Tour

Filed under: metal music, rock music, Tours — site admin @ 6:50 am

After an 11 year absence, Ozzy Osbourne, The Prince of Darkness, will return to thrill Australian audiences in a spectacular Arena concert tour in March 2008. Few artists have influenced the world of entertainment like Ozzy Osbourne. He is one of rock music’s most enduring figures who in the last few years also became one of television’s best loved personalities via the wildly successful hit MTV show “The Osbournes”. Ozzy’s popularity, creativity and reach are immeasurable.

Ozzy Osbourne is currently on the road in a massive 40-show North American and Canadian tour in support of “Black Rain” his critically acclaimed first album of new studio material in six years. A highlight of this tour will be Ozzy’s first show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in 23 years.

“Black Rain” finds the two-time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee as vital, creative and evocative as ever. The first single “I Don’t Wanna Stop” is Ozzy’s biggest rock song of his career, spending 20 weeks at #1 on the USA R&R Rock Chart. This new album has been hailed as a “genuinely blinding comeback’’ and “the best set of songs he’s conjured since 1991’s No More Tears”. Throughout his career as both a member of Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, Ozzy has sold over 100 million albums.

In what is an extraordinary career, which has so far spanned over three decades, Ozzy has made major contributions to the worlds of music and popular culture. He has performed as a solo artist and as the front man of Black Sabbath, as well as his work as the founder of the annual OZZfest tour where Ozzy has reigned as the festival’s lifeblood and star attraction for 10 years.

As co-founder, lead singer, and songwriter for Black Sabbath (1970-79) he was, in effect, a chief architect of the genre now known as “heavy metal”. Black Sabbath sold more than 25 million records in the USA alone.

The influence of Ozzy Osbourne can be felt just as strong now as it was in the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties. Ozzy’s popularity with die-hard music lovers has never waned, whilst he continues to gain millions of new fans through his music and appearances. Ozzy has transcended all boundaries and categories and is among the elite few who can lay claim to being called a true Rock Icon.
