Australia’s favourite vocalist returns to Blue Beat for the Sydney launch of his new single I’m Coming Home, from his latest album, The Water’s Edge. Multi-platinum sales and constant touring throughout the 1990s made RICK PRICE a household name in Australia, and internationally as well. His incredible voice was showcased to perfection on massive hits like Heaven Knows and Walk Away Renee, two songs that still rate among the best and most popular tracks in Australian music history.

In a long career he’s picked up countless awards, including APRA Song of the Year and a whole bunch of gold and platinum discs. In the early nineties Rick Price secured a major recording contract with Sony Records. Recorded In Los Angeles under the supervision of famed producer Chris Lord-Alge, Price’s first studio album, Heaven Knows, produced several Top 40 hits including “Not A Day Goes By” and the title track, “Heaven Knows,” reaching No. 5 and No. 6 on the charts respectively. Price’s trajectory through the charts continued with the releases “Walk Away Renee” and the duet with Margaret Ulrich, “Where Is The Love.”
In recent time Rick’s artistry as a singer, songwriter and producer has matured into something very personal and beautifully realised. In 2008 he spent a year touring the USA and Europe with Tommy Emmanuel, another great Aussie musical export, and settled permanently in Nashville when the touring ended. Inspired and energised, Rick jumped into writing with other artists in Nashville, as well as putting together a new album of his own, The Water’s Edge. While there are still echoes of a great pop artist, there are now country, blues and folk influences that take Rick’s songwriting into new and very satisfying territory.
Now one of the respected icons of the Australian music scene, Rick has also begun working with other renowned Aussie performers, including Becky Cole, Gina Jeffreys, Adam Brand, Adam Harvey, Tina Arena, Tamara Stewart and the McClymonts.

True to this mentoring spirit, Rick is inviting local Sydney musicians to share his Blue Beat gig by filling a support slot on the bill. It’s a great opportunity to play to a new audience, and work with one of the legends. Anyone interested can visit the Rick Price Fan Club on Facebook or Twitter for more information.
“I’m looking forward to performing at Blue Beat and sharing my latest album with my Sydney fans”, Rick told us. “I’ll be singing a mix of songs from the Water’s Edge album and many of my classic hits. And I’m really excited about discovering some talented local singers”.

“While a lesser act might rely more heavily on such spatial production, it is the strength of material and precision of performance which define the difference between smoky, late-night blues and over-produced, yet drawn out, boredom; Price’s maturity as an artist sets him firmly in control, making every nuance a felt moment where the listener waits in anticipation of the next.”
