THE NEXT MONTH AT RUBYS:
SLOW HUMAN ESCAPE
Thursday 6 Sep
Slow Human Escape are purveyors of the finest noise-pop space-rock. Using guitars, radios, drums, theremin, keyboard, violin and anything else they find lying around, they play songs that generally go for longer than is considered appropriate. Some of these songs are about love, alienation and modern-day cannibalism. There’s also one about a donkey. In early 2007 Slow Human Escape spent two days and nights at Debasement Studios reading girly mags and recording music. The results have been compiled as a seven track EP called ‘I’m Not Human, We’re Not Even Speaking’, - available at shows sometime in the near future. Mosaik have just put the finishing touches to their debut album and are gearing up for their first national tour, So as a warm up they will be heading to their home ground of Ruby’s to show of their refined tunes. The guys have been locked away in the studio for the past three months with nothing but their instrument and the occasional kick of the footy to keep them sane. With Haunted Attics + the green tree. Tix $6 +bf and $8 at the door.

After finding rapid and unexpected success in the US, Borne deliver a heartfelt collection of tunes which display a kind of emotion rarely captured in modern rock. From Melbourne, formed in 2003 and fronted by Cam Tapp, Borne has set a musical agenda of their own and will set it free in their homeland with the Australian release of their latest album ‘Loss of Signal’. Astounding international success and recognition, including breaking into the US Billboard charts and unprecedented sales of their EPs through Apple I-Tunes around the world. Borne became the only independent Australian artist to have two albums in the top ten downloaded albums on I-Tunes at the same time. After performing in March at SXSW, Texas, the world’s biggest and most prestigious music conference, Borne were invited to London to perform at three of the UK’s biggest outdoor festivals where they played to massive crowds at Wireless Festival Hyde Park, Glastonbury Festival and Hyde Park Calling.
