Magnificent Flowerdale Estate will prove a picture perfect setting for Russell Morris and his band when they take to the stage for an outdoor twilight concert on Sunday 8 March.
As dusk descends upon the historic homestead and its majestic rural surrounds, Russell and his band will perform their much loved classics The Real Thing, Sweet Sweet Love, Hush, Wings of An Eagle as well as songs from their Australian inspired blues and roots albums Sharkmouth and Van Diemen’s Land.

Russell Morris captured the hearts and imagination of Australians in 2012 when he unveiled Sharkmouth, the first of a trilogy of albums re- telling some amazing stories in Australia’s distant past— some famous, some not so famous—creating a historical document using blues and rock to celebrate the yarns that modern Australia was built on the back. Sharkmouth went on to win Russell his very first ARIA Award in 2013 for Best Blues & Roots Album, adding to the honour of being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2008.

“Australia has an amazing history of yarns. From Banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson, through to Paul Kelly and Bryce Courtney the Australian experience has always been retold in story. Americans have a proud tradition of folk songs passing their history down through the generations and while there are some amazing songwriters celebrating modern Australia, I wanted to create something that connected people today with the characters that shaped them,” said Russell.

Melbourne bred, now New York resident, singer/songwriter Jessi London will also be performing during her brief visit home. Her vocal style has been described as a mixture between Alicia Keys and Joni Mitchell while her talent on the piano has seen her pitched as a “female Billy Joel”. Her music is not easily classified, encompassing a unique blend of soulful folk and jazz with a contemporary pop feel.

Since moving to New York, Jessi performs regularly at The Bitter End, the oldest running original music club in Manhattan, which has been host to many music legends including Bob Dylan, Lady Gaga, Jackson Browne, Neil Diamond, Billy Crystal and Norah Jones to name a few.

Adding to to the sensory delight of the evening, guests will be treated to a tantalizing two course gourmet barbeque buffet dinner including sizzling bbq prawns, paddock to plate slow cooked lamb shoulder, sausages and a selection of housemade desserts as part of the $75 ticket price.

Whilst Flowerdale Estate accommodation is already booked out, guests can enjoy a weekend away with accommodation available at nearby Trawool Resort. A bus will pick up and return guests to Trawool Resort, with the 15 minute trip costing only $10 pp.

Built in 1838, Flowerdale Estate rests in a stunning pocket of country Victoria known as “The Valley of a Thousand Hills”. Its sweeping lawns, shady trees and established gardens overlook rolling hills, picturesque valleys and the magical King Parrot Creek – all just 70 minutes drive north east of Melbourne’s CBD.
Flowerdale Estate offers a wide range of facilities including an indoor heated pool, undercover and floodlit tennis court, fitness room, sauna, table tennis, billiards room, fishing, kayaking, relaxation and therapeutic massages by appointment, lawn games as well as BBQ and outdoor picnic areas. A large array of Australian wildlife call the Estate home including kangaroos, echidnas, cockatoos and other feathered friends. Percy the Platypus has taken up residence in the King Parrot Creek.

Once a sheep and cattle station, Flowerdale Estate was converted into a premium conferencing venue for the ANZ bank in the 1990’s and then sold to a private operator. In 2012, the venue was purchased by the former owners of the Botanical Hotel, Peter and Maria Neville, who have restored the Estate to its former glory. The tranquil regional setting is the perfect setting for a country wedding, event or conference and the venue also boasts the wonderful Gracies Restaurant, which hosts the enormously popular High Tea each Sunday.
