The down-under tour of Simon & Garfunkel just got bigger with the announcement of a second concert date for Brisbane.
Tickets for the second concert, to be held on Thursday June 18 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, went on sale at 10.12am this morning, just one hour after tickets for their Wednesday night concert went on sale.
Fans repaid the beloved duo for giving them an exclusive world-first tour by snapping up tickets across Australia in just minutes this morning.
Michael Chugg, Chairman of Chugg Entertainment, confirmed from Perth this morning that Brisbane would roll with its second concert, matching Sydney and Melbourne’s two.
Adelaide and Perth each have one concert.
Simon & Garfunkel start their Australian Tour at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on June 17 and will now perform a second show on June 18.
The prodigious pair then perform two concerts at each Sydney’s Acer Arena on June 20 and 21 and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, June 25 and 26.
They play the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on June 30 before finishing at Perth’s Burswood Dome on July 2.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel last toured Australia in 1983 with their Summer Evening Tour.
They return this time with their Old Friends Tour.
Concert-goers will bear witness to the genius and artistry that created songs of a generation including The Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water, The Boxer, Mrs. Robinson, Homeward Bound, Scarborough Fair/Canticle, I Am a Rock, A Hazy Shade of Winter, America and At the Zoo to name just a few.
“We’re the first and only territory in the world that Simon and Garfunkel have confirmed concerts for,” said Michael Chugg.
“It’s been 25 years since they’ve been here and to confirm a second concert for Brisbane is testament to the impact of their music across generations, they’re true legends.”
