Sophie Koh - Announces March tour dates
SOPHIE KOH - SILLY THING
SOPHIE KOH started 2005 with hope and anticipation:
Her debut album, “All The Pretty Boys” (produced by ARIA award winner, Richard
Pleasance) was in the can and she was ready to play a few gigs to support it.
But nothing could have prepared her for the response she received from the moment the first single, “Anywhere”, went to radio. Since then she hasn’t had any time to sit back and relax. She’s toured the country repeatedly (every state, including NT). Sophie has supported/toured with The Go-Betweens. the Eels, Paul Kelly, Pete Murray and Epicure. She’s played the Queenscliff Music Festival, the Come Together Festival, Peace One Day Festival, Northcote Festival and Woodford Folk Festival.
Here’s what the critics have to say about the album:
“memorable, enticing and honest” 4 stars -The Mercury
“incredibly impressive debut” 4 stars - The Brag
“The songs simply won’t leave you alone” - Volume
“one of the sweetest voices you are likely to hear” 4 stars - The West Australian.
Sophie’s appeared on TV show Rockwiz (duetting with Jimmy Little). She’s had two JJJ high rotation
singles, “Anywhere” and “Fall Into Space”. And her version of Split Enz “Charlie” is still in the Top 20 as part
of the double platinum “She Will Have Her Way: A Tribute to Tim & Neil Finn” album.
Sophie Koh is about to release the third track from “All The Pretty Boys” album, “Silly Thing”. Co-written
with London based singer-songwriter Tim Reid, “Silly Thing” is a deceptively simple, exuberant ballad
wrapped in an understated, yet lush, arrangement.
Sophie Koh’s “Silly Thing” EP is released on In-Fidelity Recordings on Feb 27, 2006. The EP includes “Fall
Into Space” recorded live for Triple J, and 3 other non-album tracks (2 new songs and her unique reworking
of Radiohead’s early hit, “Creep”).
Come this March, Sophie Koh and band head out on the road to plug both the EP and album. Sophie will
be playing shows all over Australia; including industry showcases, folk festivals and her own club shows.
There is no end of opportunities to see Sophie Koh play live.
